  • Matthew immigrated in 1846.4
  • He appeared on the 1850 US Federal Census of Saugerties, Ulster County, New York, in the household of his parents James Bird and Zipporah.1
  • Matthew Bird married Elizabeth Williamson, daughter of Tom Williamson, s 1851.
  • Matthew Bird was a roller, an iron roller.5
  • Matthew Bird and Elizabeth appeared on the 1860 US Federal Census of Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, enumerated Jun 1860.6
  • Matthew appeared on a list of men subject to military duty (the Civil War) betwee the ages of 20 and 35. He was listed in the 5th Ward of Troy in Rensselaer County. His stated his age as 36 - not quite true, but I assume he didn't want to be in the draft.7
  • Matthew Bird and Elizabeth appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, enumerated Jun 1870, Also listed John Worsnip age 32 Iron Worker, Mary Ward age 28 and her daughter Sarah Ward age 1.2
  • Matthew Bird and Elizabeth appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of North Greenbush, Rensselaer County, New York, enumerated Jun 1880, Also listed Mary Clegg age 46 (probable servant.)5

  • Dora Dicker was born on 3 Mar 1916, in Vienna, Austria.1
  • Dora Dicker lived in Hofzeile 16, Vienna, Austria, with her parents.2
  • She married Kurt Ullmann s 1938 in Vienna.1
  • Dora immigrated in 1939 to Palestine. All Jews on her ship were interned by the British. She was in the camp 6 months.1
  • Dora and Kurt were divorced in 1940 shortly after she left the internment camp.1
  • Dora lived in Haifa, Israel, Afterwards she stayed with an uncle who owned a hotel on Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel.3
  • She married Dave Hercz in Oct 1940 in Israel.1
  • Dora and Dave lived in Prague, Czechoslovakia, after the War.1
  • While living in Prague at times Dave would get a permission to travel to various places for medical conferences. One time in 1965 he got a visa for his whole family to travel to Germany. Everyone packed bags just as though they were going on a normal trip, leaving most of theit belongings behind. And they never returned.1
  • Bt 1965 - 1967 Dora and Dave lived in Pfarrkirchen, Germany. Dave wanted to stay in Germany instead of immigrating to America because Germany would allow him to practice medicine without further training, whereas America requested American examinations.1,4
  • In 1967 Dora and Dave moved to Nordhorn, Germany, with their family.1
  • The cause of her death was cancer.5
  • Dora Dicker died on 8 Aug 1989 in Nordhorn at age 73.1,6
