Biography:
  • Regina Brüll was born on 2 Nov 1882, in Vienna, Austria.1,2
  • She married Wilhelm Reinfeld, son of Solomon Reinfeld, in 1908 in Vienna.1
  • Regina owned a very elegant ladies' dress/design boutique near St. Stevens Cathedral. She employed approximately 50 seamstresses making blouses.1
  • Her parents lived with her in Vienna - she supported them. She bought a second home in Perchtolsdorf, outside of Vienna, and a few years later they all moved out there.
  • Regina Brüll married Adolf Aschkenazy, son of Lazar Aschkenazy and Mina Liebermann, in 1922 in Vienna.1
  • She moved back to Vienna from Perchtolsdorf because of anti-Semitism, but kept the house for the family.1
  • The cause of her death was stomach cancer.1
  • Regina Brüll died on 14 Jul 1939 in Vienna at age 56.1,3
  • She was buried at the Siemmering Zentral Friedhof in Vienna, Austria, in the Jewish area, Group 20A, Row 16, Grave 43.3,2

Biography:
  • Wilhelm Reinfeld was born in Apr 1879, in Vienna, Austria. On the passenger list for his entry into the US he stated that he was born in Jarolsau.2,3
  • An unknown date He graduated with a degree in business and became a merchant.2
  • 11 Sep 1907 Wilhelm traveled to the USA on business. He came on the ship Barbarossa, which departed from Bremen. He was identified as a clerk, and was visiting his sister in New York City at 201 Fort Ave.3
  • An unknown date He liked America so much that he wanted Regina (his wife to be) to marry him and move there. However, she loved Vienna and did not want to leave.2
  • He married Regina Brüll, daughter of Leo Brüll and Helene Stieber, in 1908 in Vienna.2
  • Bt 1914 - 1918 he volunteered to join the Austrian Army during World War I and became a First Lieutenant in the Austrian Cavalry.2
  • 1918 Wilhelm was injured in the war in Verdun France. He was in a hospital in Steinermanger (Sombately), Hungary, but never recovered from his wounds.2
  • Wilhelm Reinfeld died in May 1919 in Vienna at age 40.2
  • He was buried at the Zentral-Friedhof in Vienna, Austria.2

  • Adolf Aschkenazy was born on 2 Sep 1886.2
  • Adolf (Dolek) was the eldest of five children.2
  • He was educated at Vienna Handelsakademie (Academy of Business) in Vienna, Austria.1
  • He was doing his military service as a Major in the Austrian Army when WWI started.2
  • He married Regina Brüll, daughter of Leo Brüll and Helene Stieber, in 1922 in Vienna, Austria.1
  • Bt 1929 - 1933 Adolf lived in Dusseldorf, Germany, where he was the Polish Consul.1
  • In 1933 Adolf moved to Katovice, Poland, where he worked in the iron, steel and coal industry.1
  • He was called to join the Polish army as a Major in the Polish Legion of the Austrian Army in the summer of 1938.1
  • He died in 1942 in Lvov, Ukraine, shot by a German soldier.1,2

Biography:
  • Leon Marcel Bouvier was born on 29 Sep 1923, in Vienna, Austria.
  • In 1936 his parents decided it was time for him to leave Austria so they sent him to a boarding school in Paris.1
  • His original name was Leo Aschkenazy, but after he had fought for France and adopted it as his homeland he changed his name to Leon Marcel Bouvier.2
  • In 1940 he joined the Free French Forces under the command of General Koenig and went to British North Africa to fight the Germans. During a brutal battle he displayed exceeding bravery and was severly wounded.2
  • It was during the Bir Hakeim battle in Lybia in June of 1942, while transporting munitions by night he was bombed by the Germans and lost his right arm and 2 fingers of his left hand. He recuperated in Beirut, Lebanon.1,2
  • For his heroic act he was made Compagnon de la Libération by General de Gaulle in 1942. He was also awarded the Grand Croix of the Legion of Honor which is the highest French medal.2
  • He became a highly prominent French diplomat - eventually serving as ambassador to Paragyay, Chile and Denmark.2
  • In 1945 Leo attended McGill University in Canada to study foreign diplomacy.1,2
  • He married Christiane Rigal on Monday, 11 Dec 1950 in Paris, France.2
  • Leon Marcel Bouvier died on 23 Jul 2005 in Paris at age 81.3
