Marline "Molly" PoVey died from complications of kidney cancer Saturday, April 24, 2011 with her family by her side. She was born Dec. 5, 1933, in Ogden, UT to Hazel Swenson and Orville Lee Martinson. She married the love of her life, Frank Leon PoVey, on August 5, 1953 in Ogden. The marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple on January 23, 1988. He died on Dec. 6, 2002. Behind every successful man is an incredible woman, and Mom was, indeed, the wind beneath dad's wings. She was an incredible woman who had the talent for making friends wherever she went and in making people feel comfortable and loved. We miss her already.

Mom was born in Ogden, UT, and lived in Utah, TX and CO. She travelled extensively with Dad; they had visited 49 states at the time of his death. After dad's death, she enjoyed taking trips with her children. She loved the beauty of nature, and loved to look out her windows at the birds, squirrels, mountains, watching snow fall, and listening to the sounds of a rainstorm.

She graduated from Ogden High School and attended college and other classes through the years. She loved to learn and believed as long as you were learning, you were living. Mom worked as a medical transcriptionist until quitting work to raise a family. Later she worked as a Data Entry clerk at IRS.

Mom loved and supported all of her family, and spent countless hours attending concerts, recitals, and watching her sons and grandchildren in sports. She loved music and dancing and passed that love onto several of her children and grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing with the Golden Hours Tap Dancers. She enjoyed her monthly "Sibling Lunches" with her brother and sisters, and enjoyed texting with friends and family members.

Mom was generous with her time and money. She seldom met a worthy cause she didn't contribute to, and donated thousands of hours of service. She received the Bronze President's Volunteer Service Award in 2007 and 2008, the Silver Award in 2009, and next week was to receive the Gold Award for over 500 hours in 2010, and the President's Lifetime Service Award, for over 2, 000 hours of service.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Lynda PoVey, Brent and Vicki PoVey, Leann and Ron Jackson, Bryan and Linda PoVey, Scott and Carolyn PoVey, and Craig and Mary PoVey; 18 grandchildren and their spouses, and 17 great-grandchildren; brother Ralph Martinson; sisters Gay Beckstead, Nadine Chadwick, Sue Beyer, and Vickie Martinson. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Vern and Dee Martinson, and two grandchildren, Heidi and Heather PoVey.

A very special thanks to all of her family, extended family, and friends for their prayers, love and support shown to mom through the cancer experience. Special thanks to Wendy from Alpine Homecare. Thanks, Fred, Suzi and Dr. Reis from Alpine Hospice for the special care and visits you provided. Dr. Michael Woolman and Rita provided nearly 20 years of professional and loving care, and we can't thank you enough.

To honor mom, we suggest committing to provide service at the nonprofit agency of your choice or Alpine Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Family will meet friends and family on Wednesday, April 27th from 6 – 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:40 a.m. – 12:40 p.m. Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened..."
