    HORNELL - Gladys E. Boag, 87, of 388 Fairview Ave., died early Saturday morning (June 26, 2004) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a short illness.
    Born in the Town of Fremont on April 12, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Bessie Davis Burdett. On Sept. 25, 1937, she was married at the Big Creek Church to Milo D. Boag, who predeceased her on April 24, 1993.
    A life long resident of Hornell, Gladys was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1934, and a graduate of the former Hornell Business School.
    She was employed by the former Coyles Hardware Store in Hornell for 29 years, and also for Sears and the Changose Agency, also in Hornell, prior to becoming employed as a real estate agent for the Lang Agency, retiring at the age of 75.
    Gladys was a member of the Hornell United Methodist Church and the Women of the Methodist Church. An avid reader, she also enjoyed gardening and big band music.
    Her family includes her daughter, Milene (James) Dexter of Hornell; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Boag of Rochester; her four grandchildren, Martin Dexter of Hornell, Heather Dexter of Boston, Mass., Jennilyn Boag and Colleen Boag, both of Rochester; her two sisters, Lois (John) Giglio of West Seneca and Joyce Scholla of Hornell; her sister-in-law, Shirley Burdett of Hornell; her special friend, Ruth Muller of Hornell; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Besides her parents and husband, Gladys was predeceased by her son, David Boag; her granddaughter, Frances Adele Dexter; and her brother, Dorr Burdett.
    Calling hours were from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, and from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, June 28, at the United Methodist Church, Webbs Crossing Road, where a funeral service will be held following calling hours at 1 p.m. Monday, June 28, with the Rev. Beth Kottemann officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Bath National Cemetery.

    HORNELL: Dorr. R. Burdett, 77, died unexpectedly Saturday (Oct. 3, 1998) at his home at 7614 Airport Road. Born in Hornell on Sept. 28, 1921, he was the son of the late Fred and Bessie Davis Burdett. A lifelong resident of the Hornell area, Dorr attended the former Big Creek School and Hornell High School.

    Dorr was a mechanic by trade and was employed by the former Hornell Buick, Russ Davis Motor Sales and Zeliff Auto Sales. In 1947 he established his own business, Burwood Auto Repair, originally located on the Big Creek Road and later on Arkport Road. He retired in 1977 due to ill health. An avid race car fan, Dorr assisted his son in developing and maintaining several race cars. He also attended many area races and eventually NASCAR races. Dorr was also an avid Ford car fan and was a longtime member of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) of Hershey, Pa., and the Chemung Valley Region of AACA.

    A very loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, his family includes his wife Shirley J. Glover, who he married on April 27, 1945 at the Arkport Methodist Church; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael D. and Linda Burdett of Bishopville; his daughter, Michelle 'Shelly' Burdett and her friend Gary Saxton of Hornell; his grandson, Jason M. Burdett of Concord, NC; his granddaughter, Jamie L. Burdett of Bishopville; Gary Saxton's children, Megan, Jacob, and Jarrod Saxton of Hornell; his three sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys Boag and Joyce Scholla both of Hornell, and Lois and John Giglio of West Seneca; also his nieces, nephews, cousins and his many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

    HORNELL - Joyce M. Scholla, 79, of 11 Preston Ave., passed away Friday morning (March 2, 2007) at Hornell Gardens, where she had resided for nearly two months.
    Born in the Town of Fremont, Aug. 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Bessie Davis Burdett.
    A lifelong resident of Hornell, Joyce grew up at the family homestead on Big Creek before moving to Hornell, where she graduated from Hornell High School with the class of 1946.
    After graduation she began her employment with Westinghouse in Bath, the former Corbin Wood Products and the former Newberry Store in Hornell, before she devoted her time to raising her family.
    Joyce was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Hornell and served as a volunteer for RSVP and the Hornell Public Library.
    She enjoyed the time she spent reading and watching TV.
    Her family includes her son, Richard Scholla of Douglasville, Ga.; her daughter, Nancy Gurney of Hornell; her sister, Lois (John) Giglio of West Seneca; and her nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Dorr Burdett and her sister, Gladys Boag.
    Calling hours are from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral and committal service will take place following calling hours at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. David Kilgore officiating. Interment will be in the Fremont Cemetery, Stephens Mills.
    In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Hornell Public Library, 64 Genesee St., Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.

Jr.; mother of Linda (Kenneth) Borschel, Ronald, Marcia (Raul) Martinez, Gary (Eileen), Kevin (Cheryl), Cynthia (Richard) Godus and Rhonda Berry. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 23-great-grandchildren. The family will be present from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Hoy Funeral Home Inc., 3855 Seneca St., West Seneca. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at St. John's Lutheran Church, Union Road, and Clinton Street, West Seneca Saturday at 11 a.m. Lois was a member of the St. John's Church Choir.     From the Hornell Tribune: "David A. Boag, 48, of 1208 Gleason Circle, Pittsford, formerly of Hornell, died unexpectedly Monday (Dec. 31, 2001) at his home. Born in Hornell on June 6, 1953, he was the son of Milo and Gladys (Burdett) Boag. He was a graduate of Hornell High School (Class of 1971) and was a 1973 graduate of Alfred State College. He was currently enrolled at Empire State College. David had been employed as a compliance agent for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for the past 20 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Milo Boag, who died nine years ago.
    He was married on Aug. 10, 1974 to the former Nancy Allison, who survives. He is also survived by his loving daughters, Jennilyn A. Boag and Colleen I. Boag; his mother, Gladys Boag of Hornell; his sister, Milene (James) Dexter of Hornell; three nieces; and two nephews.
    The family of David A. Boag will receive friends on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday from 1-3 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, where a memorial service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 3 p.m.
    David's family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to Alternatives for Battered Women, PO Box 39601, Rochester, N.Y. 14604. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home."
