The Pequot War 1634-1638

The Pequot War was an armed conflict between the Pequot tribe and an alliance of the English colonists of the Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth, and Saybrook colonies and their Native American allies (the Narragansett and Mohegan tribes). The war concluded with the Pequots losing. At the end, about seven hundred Pequots had been killed or taken into captivity. Hundreds of prisoners were sold into slavery to the West Indies; other survivors were dispersed. King Philip's War 1675-1678

King Philip's War (sometmes called the First Indian war or Metacom's War) was an armed conflict between American Indian inhabitants of present-day New England and English colonists and theeir Indian allies. the war is named for Metacomet (1638-1676), the Wampanoag chief who adopted the English name Philip due to the friendly relations between his father (the Wampanoag hief Massasoit) and the Mayflower Pilgrims. The war continued in northern New England until the Signing of the Treaty of Casco Bay in April 1678.

French & Indian War 1754-1763

The French and Indian War was the North American Portion of the worldwide Seven Years' War of 1754-1763. The war pitted the colonies of British America against those of New France, with both sides supported by military units from their parent countries of Great Britain and France, as well as by Native American allies. At the start of the war, the French North American colonies had a population of roughly 60,000 European settlers, compared with 2 million in the British North American colonies. The outnumbered French particularly depended on the Indians. Following months of localised conflict, the various nations declared war on each other in 1756, escalating the war from a regional affair into an intercontinental conflict. America entered the war after the bombing of Pearl Harbor on 7 Dec 1941.

The Korean War 1950-1953

The war began when North Korea invaded South Korea. The United Nations, with the United States as the principal force, came to the aid of South Korea. China came to the aid of North Korea, and the Soviet Union gave some assistance. The fighting ended on 27 Jul 1953, when an armistice was signed. The agreement created the Korean Demilitarized Zone to separate North and South Korea, and allowed the return of prisoners. The Vietnam War 1955-1975

The Vietnam War, also known as the Second Indochina War, was a war that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 Nov 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. US combat units were deployed beginning in 1965. American involvement peaked in 1968. After the Tet Offensive of that year (which failed) a large segment of the US population turned against the war. The Paris Peace Accord was signed by everyone in Jan 1973; however the fighting continued.

The Gulf War 1990-1991

The Gulf War (2 Aug 1990 - 28 Feb 1991), was a war waged by coalition forces from 35 nations led by the United States against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait.

The IraQ War 2003 - 2011

The Iraq War was a protracted armed conflict that began in 2003 with the invasion of Iraq by a United States-led coalition that toppled the government of Saddam Hussein. The conflict continued for much of the next decade as an insurgency emerged to oppose the occupying forces and the post-invasion Iraqi government. The US formally withdrew all combat troops from Iraq by Dec 2011.

The Afghanistan War 2001 - 2021

The War in Afghanistan was a conflict that took place from 2001 to 2021 in the South-Central Asian country of Afghanistan. It began when the United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan and toppled the Taliban-ruled Islamic Emirate. The war ended with the Taliban regaining power after a nearly 20-year-long insurgency against allied NATO and Afghan Armed Forces. It was the longest war in United States history, surpassing the Vietnam War by approximately five months.
