Bernice "Niecy" Rogers
SPRINGFIELD - Bernice "Niecy" Rogers, 73, of Springfield, died at 3:33 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center.
Bernice was born November 12, 1939, in Springfield, the daughter of Maurice Vincent and Bernice Willey Power. She married William Rogers on February 4, 1957, in Jacksonville.
Bernice was an agency liaison and senior public services administrator for the State of Illinois, and also worked as an aerospace senior system design computer analyst for Martin Marietta. She belonged to a number of clubs and organizations, such as the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mayflower Society, Ya Ya Chicks Red Hat Ladies, Past President of Chatham Junior Women's Club, St. Andrew's Society of Central Illinois, the Sangamon County Pointer & Setter Club, Brinkerhoff Society, Glenwood Redskins Booster Club, Knights of Columbus, Lady Shriner, Elks, TRN Club, and she was a former Girl Scout Leader. Bernice was a member of Church of the Little Flower and loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Maurice and James; and one great-granddaughter, Lilly Wilson. She is survived by her husband, Bill Rogers of Springfield; one son, Kevin (wife, Nanette) Rogers of Springfield; two daughters, Karen (husband, Ross) Parks and Beth (husband, Tommy) Ogilvy, all of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Genelle (husband, Chris) St. John, Melissa Rogers, Lindsay Wilson, Jason Rogers, Jeremy Rogers, Lauren Stokes, Graham Ogilvy, and Kate Ogilvy; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Aidan St. John, and Emma and Azalea Wilson; siblings, Judith M. Power of Florida, Anna Jean Power of Florida, and Frances "Zeke" (wife, Janice) Power of Springfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola celebrant. Judith M. Power
PORT ORANGE, FL - Judith M. Power, 78, of Port Orange, Fla., passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, at Port Orange Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Judith was born May 15, 1936, in Springfield, Ill., the daughter of Maurice Vincent and Bernice Willey Power.
Judith attended Ursuline Academy, later graduating from Sacred Heart Academy. Judith retired from AT&T in 1988; where she also volunteered as a clown for the Pioneer Club. Judith's faith was very important to her. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Clermont, Fla., where she had served as an usher. She later joined the Catholic Church of the Epiphany in Port Orange, Fla. She was a member of St. Andrew's Society, the head of her local senior citizens group, volunteered annually at the Walt Disney World Golf Classic, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family, golf, bowling, doing needle point, and loved the beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Maurice and James Power; and one sister, Bernice "Niecy" Rogers.
She is survived by her brother, Francis "Zeke" Power of Springfield; one sister, Anna Power of Florida; several nieces and nephews including Mark, Bill, and John Power, and Cindy Manning, children of Maurice and Phyllis Power; Kevin Rogers, Karen Parks, and Beth Ogilvy, children of Bernice and Bill Rogers; and Craig Power and Diane Peecher, children of Zeke and Janice Power; as well as many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 730 S. 12th Street, Springfield, with Fr. Paul Habing officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
