James P O'Shea, in Antioch, October 12, 1972, of Concord, beloved husband of Margaret O'Shea of Concord; loving father of Phillip O'Shea of Concord; dear stepfather of David Reed of New Orleans and Mrs. Loeta Eker of Concord; dearly loved brother of Billy O'Shea, John O'Shea, Kathleen O'Shea and Eilleen Sweeney, all of Oakland; also survived by three grandchildren. A native of Oakland; aged 57 years. A member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Concord, I.B.E.W. Local 1245 of Walnut Creek and P.S.E.A.

FRED SPINDLER--died December 20, 1980
Funeral services for Fred D. Spindler, 90, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapels.
Rev. William Nowlin, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mr. Spindler died Saturday at the Leavenworth County Infirmary. He was born in Leavenworth, Feb. 10, 1890, the son of Valetine and Elizabeth Mistler Spindler. He married Alberta W. Tuttle Jan. 15, 1916.
Mr Spindler was a member of the First Christian Church and Local 499 Carpenters. Union.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alberta Spindler; his son Russell Spindler; his daughters, Mrs. Helen Monsell and Mrs. Donna Kowalewski, all of Leavenworth; his son Fred Spindler, Gardnerville, Nev.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial to the Leavenworth County Infirmary or the First Christian Church.
Friends may call at the chapel after noon today.
Helen Irene Monsell, 82, Leavenworth, Kan., passed away Friday, April 7, 2006, at her home.
Helen was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Frederick and Alberta (Tuttle) Spindler. On Feb. 28, 1942, in Papillion, Neb., she married Lyle E. Monsell. He survives her at the home.
She is also survived by her daughter, Judy Keller and husband Gary of Platte City, Mo.; brother, Fred Spindler; sister Donna Kowalewski; granddaughter, Stacey Bequette and husband Paul; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Taylor and Darian. She was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Spindler; and sister, Venita Merilatt.
Helen was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Leavenworth. She and her husband enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques.
No visitation is planned. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Sunset Memory Gardens. The Rev. Jerry Muncy will officiate.
lyle Edward Monsell, 86, of Leavenworth, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Select Specialty Care at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Omaha Neb., the son of William and Ruth (Wilson) Monsell. On Feb. 28, 1942, he married Helen Spindler in Papillion, Neb., she preceded him in death on April 7, 2006.
Lyle is survived by a daughter, Judy (Gary) Keller of Platte City, Mo.; a granddaughter, Stacey (Paul) Bequette of Lansing; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Taylor and Darian; and a sister, Lillian Sunclades. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, James, and Theodore,
Lyle was a 60 year member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Jointers of America Local 168. He collected antiques for 40 years. Lyle was a member of First Christian Church.
Rita Pauline Spindler died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at her Leavenworth home. She was 70. She was born July 9, 1928, in Stockton, the daughter of John and Pauline Benge.
She attended schools in Leavenworth and graduated from Leavenworth High. She worked as a tax preparer and taught tax school at H & R Block, retiring after 14 years of service.
Mrs. Spindler had been a member of the Leavenworth Coin Club, Leavenworth County Genealogical Society and the Girl Scouts.
She married Russell A. Spindler on July 22, 1949, in Leavenworth. He survives her of the home. Other survivors include three daughters, Cheryl D. Smith, Leavenworth, Linda R. O'Brien, Wesfield, WI, and Dr. Jayna L. Spindler, Atlanta, GA; a son James Marc Spindler, Wetmore, CO, a brother, James F. Benge; two sisters, Doris Blockburger and Lois Benge; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a grandson and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Belden-Seston-Sumpter Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with the Rev. Mary Jackson officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Hospice of Leavenworth.
