Mrs. Joseph (Genevieve) Norman of 34 Lincoln Ave. died unexpectedly at her residence Monday
March 18, 1974. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Norman; her father, George W. Cowen of Rutland, Vt.;
and several cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Sullivan and Minahan
Funeral Home, 67 Park St, Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Messiah.Interment will be in St. George's Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
MRS. EDWIN BRIGGS
SHREWSBURY - Mrs. Ruth Marie Burgess Briggs, 64, wife of Edwin Jay Briggs, died suddenly Friday morning at the Rutland Hospital.
She was born in West Rutland, Oct. 27, 1898, the daughter of Rollin Benjamin and Dora Helen(Burditt) Burgess.
Besides her husband, she is surved by two dauthers, Mrs. Betty Ruth Pelkey and Mrs. Jane Susan Carter, both of Rutland; three sons, Edward James Briggs of Shrewsbury, Herbert Roy Briggs of Barre, Merrill Patrick Briggs of Pittsford; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Katherine Edith Kingsley of Harford, CT; two brothers, Earle Reuben Burgess of Hartford CT, and Roy Henry Burgess of Proctor and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Olof Johnson, pastor the the Federated Church of Castleton, at the Bernard Funeral Home in Pittsford. Friends may call Saturday at the funeral home between 2 and 4 and 7 and 9 p.m.
Pittsford - Barbara M. Kingsley died February 10th, 2012. She was born November 18th, 1918, in Brandon, Vermont, the daughter of Charles M. and Maybelle (Fuller) Chandler.
She graduated from Pittsford High School. She was employed by Vermont Marble Co., Blossoms Restaurant and the Holiday Inn, over the years. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards and bingo. She very much enjoyed feeding the birds and taking care of her plants. Barbara was also a 20-year member volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Barbara truly loved her family more than life itself. Everyone who met her loved her for her big heart and sense of humor, which she never lost.
Barbara is survived by one brother, Edward Carter and wife Betty of Pittsford; one daughter, Virginia Field and husband Hollis of Pittsford; granddaughter Melanie Grabowski and husband Paul of West Rutland, granddaughter Darcy Perry and husband Gene of Georgia, granddaughter Lisa Johnson of Rutland; grandson Steven Doaner of Florida. She also has seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She always said the Village Manor residents and staff in Pittsford were her extended family.
Barbara was predeceased by her father, Charles Chandler; her mother, Maybelle Chandler; her brother, Claude Chandler; husband Harry Burgess (passed in 1959); stepfather, Lema Carter; husband Allen Manning (passed in 1974); husband Frank Kingsley (passed in 1987); sister Mary Carter; and most recently, her daughter, Diana Doaner, son-in-law Roger Doaner, and sister Jean Sass.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pittsford Food Shelf. Barbara always said, "No child should go to bed hungry." Donations made in care of Robin Rowe, 90 Evelyn Drive, Pittsford, VT. Barbara's request was no flowers, to please send donations to the food shelf in Barbara's name.
The Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford will be handling the arrangements. Due to the time of year, the funeral service and burial will be held at a later time, to be decided in late April.
PITTSFORD - Roger P. Doaner, 71, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., following a short illness.
He was born on January 18, 1940, in Orwell, Vt., the son of Harry and Laura (Ploof) Doaner.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis.
He was employed for many years as a sales representative by W.C. Landon in Rutland, and later by Doaner's TV Sales and Service in Brandon, before retiring.
He enjoyed hunting with his brothers.
Roger was an avid fan of both the Boston Red Sox and the Oakland Raiders football team, and he had a passion for "Fantasy Sports Teams" that he shared with his brother Allen.
He had a special love for his longtime companion, Snickers. Mom, Dad, and Snickers, may you rest in peace together.
He is survived by a son Steven B. Doaner of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter Melanie H.D. Grabowski and her husband Paul and granddaughters Shelby H. and Kiana M. Grabowski, all of West Rutland; brothers Harry Doaner Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Rutland; Chester Doaner and his wife Pat of Sharon; Allen Doaner and his wife June of Brandon; a sister Theresa Curtis of Rochester; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Diana (Burgess) Doaner in 2007.
In honoring Roger's wishes, a private graveside service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford.
