Clifton Carroll Martin was born on 9 January 1926 in Springfield, Vermont.¹
Father: Clifton Oliver Martin (b 17 Jan 1905 Rutland, Vermont) - Mother: Annis Lizzie LaQue (b 13 Mar 1904 North Charlestown, New Hampshire.)¹
He was usually called Cliff.¹
Clifton enlisted on 16 Feb 1943 in the Navy. He served on the USS Hale, a destroyer in the South Pacific campaign from the Gilbert Islands. He was honorably discharged from San Diego on 27 Jan 1946 as a Seaman First Class.¹
He graduated from Springfield High School, Springfield, Vermont, in 1947 by attending night school. His high school years had been interrupted by military service during WW II.¹
He was employed by Dustin's Esso Station as a filling station attendant.²
He was employed by Jones & Lamson in 1950 as a machinist.²
Clifton Carroll Martin was a time study man.²
He was employed by Bryant Computer Products.¹
In 1967 Clifton moved to Union Lake, Michigan; they also lived in Walled Lake, and in Commerce Township, both in Michigan.¹
He died on 20 December 2001 in Commerce Township, Michigan, at age 75.¹
The cause of his death was heart failure.¹

Darrell Allen Martin was born on 16 September 1949 in Springfield, Vermont.¹
He moved with his parents Clifton in 1967 to Union Lake, Michigan.²
Darrell Allen Martin graduated from Springfield High School, Springfield, Vermont, on 13 June 1967 as the class valedictorian.²

He was described as 5 ft, 11 inches tall, with brown hair and gray eyes in 1969.²
On the 14th of Aug 1969 Darrell joined the army when he was drafted. He served in Vietnam from Jan 1970 to April 1971 with the Supply & Service Company of Saigon Support Command.²
He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service.²
He graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, in August 1975 with a BA in Psychology, completing his education under the GI Bill.²
He was employed by the Morey Corporation, Carol Stream, Illinois, The Morey Corporation is a world leader in rugged telematics hardware design and manufacturing. He retired in 2010.³
Darrell was an avid genealogist, a loyal supporter of both Second Site and TMG.⁴
He died on 23 July 2013 in Addison, Illinois, at age 63.³

Life Legacy

Darrell Allen Martin, 63, died July 23, 2013 at his home in Addison, IL. Darrell was born September 16, 1949 in Springfield VT, the son of Clifton C. and Kathelyn (Dutton) Martin, grandson of Derrick and Ruth (Williams) Dutton and Clifton O. and Annis (Laque) Martin.

Darrell graduated from Springfield High School in 1967. He attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL prior to serving 2 years with the US Army in Vietnam and then graduated in 1975. He retired from the Morey Corporation of Carol Stream, IL in 2010.

He is survived by his daughter Yavanna (Byron) Klappal, granddaughter Rebekah Nadine Klappal of Fort Wayne, IN and son Derrick Martin of Barrington, RI. Also surviving are his mother Kathelyn Dutton Martin of Commerce Township, MI, brother Curtis (Mary) of White Lake, MI, brother Bradley (Candice) of Wixom, MI and sister Anita (Richard) Jeffery of Murfreesboro, TN; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandparents and father Clifton C.

Darrell’s hobbies were participating in the French and Indian War re-enactments with The Massachusetts Provincial Battalion out of Houghton, MI and Genealogy; but his loves were being Rebekah’s Grandpa and the Fountain of Life Church where he worshiped the Lord Jesus, whom he loved.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 7PM at Fountain of Life Church, 2S361 Glen Park Rd, Lombard. The family will lay Darrell to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials to Rebekah's School Fund, 5918 Lois Lane, Fort Wayne, IN, 46804, are appreciated.

She married Thomas Burditt, son of Thomas Burditt and Mary Sargent, on 4 December 1729 in Malden, Massachusetts.¹
Thomas and Sarah lived in Malden, Massachusetts, near the present easterly corner of Salem and Sprague streets. After Thomas died the town voted to use his house as a home for the poor, but the Widow Sarah refused this action to be taken.¹
She died in Malden, Massachusetts.¹
