Catherine Louise Groskritz, 83, of Castleton, VT and formerly of Windsor, wife of the late William A. Groskritz, died on Wednesday, (August 21, 2002) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Pittsford, VT, daughter of the late Morris and Hazel (Burgess) Pratt, she grew up in Pittsford and moved to Windsor in 1938. After raising her family, Catherine and her husband retired to Vermont in 1966. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, she leaves a son, Peter Groskritz and his wife Mary Lou of Granby; a daughter, Susanne Alberti and her husband Raymond of Southwick; two sisters, Esther Johnson and Jeanette Bradley, both of Vermont; 11 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Besides her husband of 62 years, she was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest and Junior Pratt; and a sister, June Russell. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 26, 1 p.m., at Evergreen Cemetery, Pittsford, VT. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, August 24, 2-6 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby.

Peter Groskritz
Peter Groskritz, born April 30, 1941, of Granby, died suddenly on Saturday, (August 16, 2008) while on vacation with his son and family at Lake Bomoseen in Castleton, VT.
Peter was retired from ALSTOM Power where he was employed for 40 plus years. Peter was a member of the Mason Valley Lodge #36 F&AM of Simsbury, as well as a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Peter was a member of the NRA, an expert marksman, and certified shooting range instructor. Peter was an avid hunter with a love and passion for the Goshen Mountains of Vermont including Blueberry Hill and Lake Bomoseen where his sons, family and friends gathered for deer camp in November.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, William and Catherine (Pratt) Groskritz of Lake Bomossen, Castleton, VT. He leaves his beloved wife of 25 years, Mary Lou Groskritz of Granby; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Ray Alberti of Southwick, MA; along with his sons, Peter W. Groskritz and wife Mary of Granby, and James George and daughters, Jodie White and husband Steven of East Granby, Tammy Wilcox and husband Russell of East Hartland, Sherrie Morrison of Texas, Yvonne Fortier and husband Tom of Ellington, Donna Librizzi and husband Tom of Broad Brook, and Cynthia Kohlrusch and husband Mark of Fairview, NC; in addition to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout CT, VT and NY including Kent Russell of Delmar, NY who he thought of as a brother. He also leaves his cat and best friend, Calie and his son's dog, Maxwell and cat Neshobee.
There will be calling hours for Family and Friends at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, on Wednesday, August 20 from 5-8 p.m. There will also be calling hours on Friday, August 22 from 1-2 p.m. with a Funeral Service to be held at 2 p.m.at the Barnard Funeral Home, 3186 US 7, Pittsford, VT 05763.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford.
