Margaret was the daughter of Axel Fretuf and Ellen C. .Josefson Paulson, Swedish immigrants who came to this country in 1909. She was a stenographer and supposedly Edward's secretary in the Textile firm in which he was an executive. She was Edward's second wife, whom he married in 1956, 3 years after his first wife's death. She helped care for his daughter, Judy, for the rest of her life.4

Marion was born Maybelle Marion to Charles F. Burditt and his wife Annie Lauriette Carpenter Burditt. She was brought up in North Reading, Massachusetts, graduating from high school. On June 19, 1926 she married Robert M. Clough who had graduated from Harvard University. They lived in Reading until Bob was transferred to the New York City Office of Shell Oil Company where he became a manager until he retired in 1950. Marion and Bob moved to San Diego, California but soon separated and were finally divorced. They had one son, Donald and six granddaughters.2

Story

Bob was born in Reading, Massachusetts on New Year's Eve, 1901, the son of George Hatch and Grace Parker Clough. He attended Andover Academy and Harvard University and was well known for his ability to play golf. He was Bobby Jone's partner at one time. After college, Bob married M. Marion Burditt and went to work for the Shell Oil Company. He worked his way up to a manager in the New York Office. He continued to play golf and won many trophies at the Wingfoot Golf Club. He retired in 1950 and moved to San Diego with his wife.

Bob met Bob Peterson on the golf course and they founded "Jack-in-the-Box" restaurants and Foodmaker Corporation to supply them.

Bob and Marion separated shortly after they moved to California and several years later he married Ruth Hill Goulding of San Diego. Marion and Bob had one son, Donald, born in 1927 and 6 granddaughters.
