Byron W. Burditt, 78, of Lakeland, Fla., and formerly of Midland, died Friday evening, Aug. 31, 2007, in Midland, of Mesothelioma.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to Lakeland in 1988. He had been a member of the Ironworkers Union Local #25 of Detroit.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Miller Jardis Burditt; daughters, Peggy (Serge) Poyo of Marietta, Ga., and Kristine (Dan) Fuller of Saginaw; sons, Byron (Jo Anne) Burditt of Saginaw, and Michael Burditt of Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; sisters, Marion (John) Looby of Saginaw, and Patricia Martini of Freeland; brothers, Robert (Andrea) Burditt of Midland, Dr. Christopher Burditt of Yountville, Calif., and Dean (Pat) Burditt of Birch Run; stepson, Norman (Marlene) Jardis of Midland; stepdaughter, Gail Martin of Somerville, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As per Byron's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will take place 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W. Wheeler St.

Richfield Springs - Dean H Burditt, 66, of 73 East James St. a mason and a retired employee of General Crushed Stone plant, Jordanville, died Monday in Bassett Hospital Cooperstown. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. He came to Cooperstown at the age of six and attended local schools. He married Ann Hannahs in 1942.
Mr Burditt served with the Army Engineer Corps during World War II. He was a former member of the Cooperstown Fire Department and a member of the Richfield Springs Fire Department of which he was an exempt fireman. He was a member of Hugick-Purcell-Shepard Post American Legion, a charter member of the local Disabled American Veterans Post and past president of Richfield Springs Sportsmen's Club.
Besides his wife he leaves four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Deane Ann) Koyanagi Hastings-on-the-Hudson, Mrs. Thomas (Sue) Neale Richfield Springs, Mrs. Larry (Vivian) Werts, Elmira and Miss Betty Burditt, at home; two sons Richard, Schuyler Lake, and Robert, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Brown, North Bergen NJ and Mrs Vivian Smerdon West New York and a brother William, Birch Run, Michigan
The funeral will be at 10 Thursday from the McGrath Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs. Callling hours are 7 to 9 tonight. The fire department will meet at 7 tonight and the american Legion will have its service at 7:30.
