Reverend John Benson married Karin Benson. Their first daughter Jennie married Frank Nyren in 1896. [Their 8 daughters included the 4th, Hazel.]
Hazel, Mrs. John Henry Barry, was a secretary and married John Henry Barry, a miner, who was killed in Homer Mine. She later married Joe DeCloux, also a miner. Her son, James Barry, is a farmer and miner, who married Naomi Robinson. They are active in indoor and outdoor sports, 4-H leaders, and are in Conservation. They have three children, Gloria, Mrs. George Nantelle, who is in optics for Dr. R.K. The clubs were first organized in connection with the schools and the teachers served as leaders. When the schools closed, the meetings were held in leaders' homes or at Beechwood Community Hall. Edward Steffen passed away Feb 3, 2013, at the Palisade Living Center, he was 94.

Ed was born on March 3, 1918, in De Soto, Missouri, one of ten children, from the union of Bertram and Nellie Steffen. He was a United States Air Force Master Sergeant serving in Korea, Japan, Germany and all over the United States.

He married Dorothy Steffen in Montgomery, AL in 1941, they later divorced and she preceded him in death on December 15, 2008. He married Liz Heller and they later divorced.

Ed was a resident of the Grand Junction area for 15 years moving from Bend, OR. He was an inquisitive man who enjoyed aviation and piloting and liked reading a good Zane Gray novel. He was a Bush Pilot in Alaska and part of the Clark County, N Search and Rescue in earlier years.

Ed leaves behind his 2 sons, a daughter, ten grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Steffen.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2013, at Martin Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675. Friends and family may leave their condolences at www.martin-mortuary.com.
