Rita Lucille Wigle
A memorial Mass was held in Myrtle Creek for Rita Lucille Wigle, 87, of Riddle.
Rita was born April 15, 1921, in Gervais, to John A. and Theresa F. Ferschweiler. She died May 23, 2008, at her home with her family in attendance.
She graduated from Mount Angel College in 1941 with a teaching certificate. She taught school in Elsie, Jewell, Parkerville and for many years in Riddle.
On Sept. 27, 1945, she married Cloid B. Wigle in Gervais. They had lived in Riddle since 1947. Her greatest joy was watching her children and grandchildren participate in their many sporting activities. Rita and her husband had been longtime supporters of Doc Stewart Legion Baseball, South Umpqua and Riddle athletics and the Marshfield football team.
She was a member of All Souls Catholic Church in Myrtle Creek since its inception, being very active in the altar society. Rita was often most happy when working in her garden, growing her many beautiful flowers.
Rita is survived by her husband, Cloid; their five children, Kent and his wife, Susan of Coos Bay, Richard of Riddle, Rod and his wife, Carla of Bend, Colleen Hunt and her husband, Dennis of Pendleton and Gail Weaver and her husband, Rick of Myrtle Creek; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings.

Jean Lenore (Dougherty) Whisler
Jean Lenore (Dougherty) Whisler, a 25-year cancer-survivor, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2006, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 15, 1926, to Dr. Lewis R. and Alice Lawrenson Dougherty in Seattle.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Wilton M. Whisler, daughters Mary Kay (Eric) Rohrbach and Elizabeth Ann (Jim) Asher, and three grandchildren, Kathryn and Andrew Rohrbach and Adam Asher.
A graduate of Highline High School (1944) and the University of Washington (1948), Jean was a member of the Highline Historical Society and life member of the Women's University Club, Delta Zeta Sorority, Lake Burien Presbyterian Church, and the Seattle Genealogical Society. Residing at the family farm, Greensward, in Burien for 53 years, she was an active gardener, outstanding floral arranger, and imaginative decorator. A talented and accomplished musician, she studied piano pedagogy at Cornish College of the Arts, performed on the piano and organ, and taught piano and organ to many students in the Burien area for 37 years. Early on, Jean became interested in genealogy, researching and traveling internationally, teaching, and publishing. Jean was an active supporter of and volunteer in the community public schools, Highline Medical Center, Burien Library Guild, Highline High School Alumni Association, and Highline School District's Puget Sound Youth Foundation.
