FORT GRATIOT Donald R. Osgood, 84, of Fort Gratiot, passed away from natural
causes in his residence on Friday, November 11, 2005.
He was born to Lee and Mae Osgood on October 27, 1921 in Port Huron, attended
the Port Huron schools, and graduated from Port Huron High School in 1940.
Don was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S.
Relief in the Pacific Campaign.
On September 10, 1945, he married RoseMarie Montaldi in Chehalis, WA.
He worked at Chrysler Corp. for 47 years until his retirement.
Don was a longtime member of the Blue Water Lapidary Society and was a mechanic
who could fix anything. He loved pets and enjoyed the outdoors, especially
gardening, hunting fishing, and camping with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, RoseMarie Osgood; his four
children, Karen Gordon of Grosse Pointe Park, Gayle (John) Ferris of Bad Axe,
Dawn Hopkins of North Lakeport and Geoffrey (Deborah) Osgood, M.D. of Grosse
Pointe Farms; his eight grandchildren, Dr. Cynthia and Sarah Gordon, Julienne,
Geoffrey and Jillian Ferris, Adrian Hopkins and Olivia and Geoffrey Osgood II;
his sister, Loreen Malaxa of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his brothers, Darryl, Earl, Lloyd, Roland, Melvin
and Allen Osgood; and a sister, Novia VandeWarker.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2005 in Smith
Family Funeral HomeNorth, 1525 Hancock St. Pastor John H. Arnold of Westhaven
Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery under the
direction of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
and on Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m.

Obituary:
RoseMarie Osgood, age 88 of Fort Gratiot, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2012. She was born June 15, 1923 to Francis and Marie Antoinette (Telesco) Montaldi in Buffalo, New York. She graduated with the first graduating class of Eden High School in Eden, NY in 1941, and from the Eton College of Nursing in Buffalo as a Registered Nurse in 1943. RoseMarie was a Veteran of WWII, serving with the Naval Cadet Corp of Nurses in Portland, Oregon. There she met her husband Donald R. Osgood. They married on September 10, 1945. She and Donald were married for 60 years at the time of his death on November 11, 2005.
RoseMarie was a member of Westhaven Baptist Church where she served as treasurer, pianist, and Sunday school teacher. She belonged to the Blue Water Lapidary Society. She worked in the Medical Department of Chrysler Corporation for 32 years, until her retirement in 1995. She was a wonderful baker of pies, cookies, cakes, and sweet rolls. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, and making wine from her home grown grapes. She loved walking for exercise, crocheting, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, collecting rocks, traveling, and enjoying her grandchildren.
RoseMarie is survived by her four children, Karen Gordon of Grosse Pointe Park, Gayle (John) Ferris of Bad Axe, Dawn Hopkins of North Lakeport, and Dr. Geoffrey Osgood of St. Clair Shores, 8 grandchildren, Dr. Cynthia (Dan Beckett) Gordon, Sarah Gordon, Julienne Ferris J.D., Geoffrey (Jennifer) Ferris, Jillian Ferris, Adrian Hopkins, Olivia Osgood, and Geoffrey Osgood II, 2 great grandchildren, Maria and Geoffrey Ferris, 3 brothers, Ralph (Barbara) Montaldi, Paul (Shelly) Montaldi, and David (Barbara) Montaldi, 4 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Osgood, Loreen Malaxa, Carol and Barbara Montaldi, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and brothers, Dominic and Francis Montaldi, and a sister, AnneMarie Montaldi.
A funeral service will take place at 11 AM Tuesday in the Smith Family Funeral Home – North, 1525 Hancock Street. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the funeral home. www.smithfamilyfuneralhome.com.
