Kenneth Lee Robinson, age 74 of Rolla, passed away at his home on Friday, December 11, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Ken was born in Springfield, MO on October 9, 1946 to the late Edward Kyle Robinson and Ruby White (Snodgrass) Robinson. Shortly after birth they returned to Rolla to be near family. He graduated from Rolla High School in 1964 and began studying at UMR. In January 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a crewman on a “Swift” boat. After two tours in Vietnam he was honorably discharged in October 1969.
On March 27, 1971 he married Lula Jane Moreland and their union was blessed with three children.
He was employed at the U.S. Geological Survey in Rolla where he worked as a technical photographer, retiring in 2004 with twenty-seven years of service.
Ken was a Willys Jeep enthusiast. He enjoyed giving his grandkids Jeep rides to the creek and attending swap meets. He cared for his pets, never turning a stray away. Ken was a caring, compassionate person who was genuinely interested in meeting and getting to know people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Milton “Pete” Snodgrass; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edgar and Lorene Moreland; sister-in-laws, Rose Stough and Barbara Skyles; his grandson, Zachary Alistair Cook.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his wife of forty-nine years, Lula Jane Robinson, of their home in Rolla; three children, Tamara Clutts and husband Michael, Timothy Robinson and wife Patricia, and Kenna Rosann Cook and husband Chuck, all of Rolla; six grandchildren, Lauren and Kyle Robinson, Ray “Junior” Cook and wife Adalie, Courtney Lewis and husband Nicholas, Caleb Cook and Abigail Cook; two great grandchildren, Paityn Cook and Zachary Cook; brother-in-law, David Skyles; nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends.
A funeral service for Kenneth Robinson will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in rural Rolla. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service Tuesday beginning at 11 am at the funeral home.
