Glenna Yancey
April 28, 1920 ~ July 1, 2019

Glenna Jones Yancey, died in her home on July 1, 2019, at the age of 99. She was born on April 28, 1920, to Tom and Sadie Jones in Kanesville, Utah. She was the fifth of nine children, and treasured memories of her childhood for her entire life.

In 1940, she married Kenneth E. Yancey, beginning 58 years of a wonderful marriage. They built seven houses in the Ogden and Spokane, Washington areas, and Glenna thrived on turning them into lovely homes. She was an immaculate housekeeper, an exquisite seamstress and quilter, a great cook and hostess, and an accomplished stained-glass artist.

Glenna was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in every calling she received. She especially enjoyed weekly 600-mile round trips to serve in the Seattle Temple. She was a kind and gentle person to the end.

She is survived by her children, Jill (Doug) Mitton and Val (Liz) Yancey; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Cleone Folkman and Rae Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, her son, Van, a great-grandson, Nathan Yamasaki, and seven siblings.

A graveside service will be held at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 E. 2850 N., North Ogden, Utah, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Thank you to Annette and Juanita. Good job, Mom. You'll be an amazing angel. Condolences may be shared at: www.serenicare.com.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.¹
Leone married Jesse Mangum Duffin on 26 March 1934.³
She appeared on the 1950 US Federal Census of 47 2nd Street, American Fork, Utah County, Utah, enumerated on 20 April 1950.⁴
She died on 16 August 2002 in Paso Robles, California, at age 91.¹
She was buried in American Fork Cemetery, American Fork, Utah. Plot_ D_27_3.¹

Leone Marie Yancey Duffin

Leone Marie Yancey Duffin, 91, our beloved mother, passed away August 16, 2002. She was born December 28, 1910 in American Fork to John Albert and Emily Ann Hoggard Yancey, and lived there until November, 1998 when she moved to Paso Robles, CA with her daughter.

She married Jesse Mangum Duffin March 26, 1934. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple April 12, 1944. She was a member of the LDS church and served in a variety of calling, including Sunday School and MIA teacher. She worked at Sears, Shriers Typewriter Store in Salt Lake City and American Fork Hospital for many years. Her greatest joy was her children and family. Her interests included gardening, home improvement projects, oil painting, and reading. She often said how much she loved this life. She will be remembered for her gentle, caring ways.

She is survived by four children; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, 1 great-great- grandchild; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Carol; grandson, Randal Keen Ashman; two brothers, Kenneth and Veldon Yancey and two sisters, Rhea Johnson and Afton Reo "Madge" Crandall.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m in Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork; where friends may call an hour prior to the services. Burial is in American Fork Cemetery. This story appeared in New Utah on page 16.¹

Veldon Eldredge Yancey was born on 14 May 1915 in American Fork, Utah.²
Veldon served in the US Navy during WW II as Chief Pharmacists Mate, stationed at Pearl Harbor.^2,3
Veldon married Shirley Thornton on 19 October 1943 in San Francisco, California.⁴
Veldon and Shirley lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, with their family for 33 years.⁴
In 1950 Veldon Eldredge Yancey was a bus driver for Greyhound for 40 years.^5,3
He and Shirley appeared on the 1950 US Federal Census of 319 North 7th St, Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, enumerated on 4 April 1950.
He died on 19 July 1992 in Saint George, Utah, at age 77.²
The cause of his death was cancer.
He was buried in Washington City Cemetery, Washington, Utah. Plot: Blk 10, Lot 16, Plot E, Row 28.²
