In 1479 and 1483 he was a commissioner of the peace. He appears to have adhered to Richard III.²
On 24 November 1487 he granted his lands in Fringford, Oxfordshire, to his son Thomas and Thomas's wife Joan and their heirs. On 23 Sep 1506 (22 Henry VII) his son Thomas received licence to enter, without proof of age, upon the lands of his father, John Gifford of Twyford, a tenant in chief.²
In 1497 he was high sheriff of co. Bucks.²
John Gifford died before 23 September 1506.²
