The people of Battle Mountain were surprised yesterday to learn of the sudden
death of Richard O'Leary which occurred at his home in Lewis yesterday.
Mr O'Leary had been at Galena for some time past engaged in performing
assessment work and came to town Tuesday morning and that afternoon was taken to his home in Lewis. He had died very suddenly. Although he had not been in good health for some time past, it was not thought to be of a serious nature and it is supposed that he died of heart failure.
Deceased was an old pioneer resident of this county, having lived in Galena
and Lewis for upwards of twenty-five years, where he followed mining.
He leaves a large family to mourn his death --a wife, 5 daughters, Mrs. Kate
Meffley of Battle Mtn, Mrs. Belle Baker of Oregon, Mrs Frank Martin of Lewis,
and Misses Vira and Nora, and two sons, William and Frank. Deceased was a
native of Ireland and aged about 60 years.
The funeral will take place from the Catholic Church tomorrow afternoon,
(Friday) Rev. Father Butler officiating. The sympathy of this community is with the afflicted family in their sad bereavement.

BAKER-In Reno, September 5, 1911, Isabel O'Leary Baker, beloved wife of Henry B. Baker, mother of Irene, Dorothy, Nellie, Willie, Herman and Harold Baker, daughter of Mrs. Richard O'Leary, sister of Mrs. Frank Martin and Mrs. Kate Meffley of Reno, Mrs. C.B. Franklin of Los Angeles, Miss Nora O'Leary of San Francisco, William O'Leary of Oakland and F. O'Leary of National; a native of California, aged 42 years, 6 months and 18 days.
Friend are respectfully invited to attend the funeral today (Thursday) at 9:30 a.m. from the home of Mrs. Kate Meffley, No. 304 Walnut Street, thence to St. Thomas Acquinas Church, where a requiem mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul, commencing at 10 o'clock a.m. Interment St. Thomas Cemetery.

Henry Baker Dies In Hospital Here
Resident of Nevada for Half Century Succumbs
Henry B. Baker, a resident of Nevada for the past half century, died at a Reno hospital at 6:30 o'clock last night after an illness of one week's duration.
He had been in failing health for about a year. He was widely known in Washoe County, and had conducted the Baker Ranch east of Sparks for a number of years. He came here in 1883 and was a native of Germany.
He is survived by the following children: Mrs. L.D. Anderson of Reno, Mrs. Frederick Kleppe of Alameda, Cal., Mrs. Ernest Kleppe of Reno, Miss Isabelle O. Baker of Reno, William K. Baker, Herman R. Baker and Harold H. Baker of Sparks, and was the brother of Joseph Baker of Winnemucca and Mrs. Ann Judd of Iowa.
Funeral arrangements are being made by the Ross-Burke Company.

Mrs. E. J. Kleppe Dies Suddenly
Heart Attack Claims Matron
"Stricken with a heart attack, Mrs. Nellie Baker Kleppe died Sunday night at her home in the Glendale district. She had been in apparent good health and her death came as quite a shock to her many friends.
She was the wife of Ernest J. Kleppe, Truckee Meadows rancher and member of the Washoe County Commissioners board.
Born on the Baker ranch near Sparks, she was 40 years old. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baker, pioneer settlers in the valley. She attended school in Sparks and before her marriage to Mr. Kleppe, was employed in Reno. She was active in the affairs of the farm bureau and other farm organizations, and with her husband was a member of the Nevada White Hats, local riding club.
Surviving besides her husband are two brothers and two sisters, Herman Baker of Reno, Harold (Pete) Baker of the U.S. Army, Mrs. Lawrence D. Anderson of Los Angeles and Mrs. Isabel Hodge of Portland.
She was the aunt of Mrs. Bette M. Anderson, Mrs. Jean Gullihur, Henry and Betty Bell BAker of Reno Fred Kleppe Jr., of the U.S. Air Corps, Mrs. Patricia Neale of Iowa and Fred and Robert Hodge of Portland."
