Marsha R. Snyder, 1935-2010 PITTSFIELD- Marsha R. Snyder, beloved daughter of E. Earl and Helen M. Reeves passed away unexpectedly on July 29 at her home in Pittsfield.
Marsha was born on October 13, 1935 and grew up in Pittsfield; she attended Miss Hall's School and graduated from Stoneleigh- Burnham School in Greenfield in 1954. Attending Garland Junior College in Boston, she returned home to her home town and was employed with Editions Limited, a high end silk screen manufacture of greeting cards as a senior printing designer.
In 1958, she was married to C. Edward Snyder a graduate of Williams College and together the move extensively throughout the United States for three major Corporations, encompassing 13 relocations in 30 years.
Marsha was active as a photographer, artist, author and homemaker. She recently published a book about her mother's early years in Vermont where her grandfather was the state's first automobile dealer and correspondingly, her grandmother was the state's first and safest woman driver. The title of the book is "Speedwell" and can be described as the "Bridges of Madison County with trauma. Marsha areas of expertise also included skiing, photography, published, pyrotechnics, and a "Super-Mom".
She was predeceased by her son Sam in 1981.
Marsha leaves her beloved husband, Ed and her devoted daughter Audrey of Pittsfield and son, Zachary Snyder a movie director of Pasadena, Calif. She also leaves three sisters Sally Edmonds of Cambridge, Susan Whalen of Hinsdale, and Robin Colt of Walnut Creek, Calif. Additionally, she leaves nine grandchildren, Olivia, Willow, Autumn, and Eli Snyder of Altadena, Calif., Tucker, Sam and Daisy Davis of Pittsfield, Ezekiel and Jett, Elin of Quechee, Vt.
Marsha will be sorely missed by her family and many community friends. Her friendships are extensive, her creative talents are always "Outside of the Box" and she leaves a legacy that is difficult, if not impossible, to replace. We, her friends, are privileged to have known her.
FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be a celebration of Marsha's Life at the WELLINGTON FUNERARL HOME 220 EAST STREET PITTSFIELD MA, Sunday August 8, 2010 at 1 p.m. Visiting hours with family will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. till the start of the service. Friends and family will adjourn for a light lunch at Zucchini's Restaurant 1331 North Street Pittsfield on the lower level from 2:30 till 4 p.m.
Donations in her memory can be made in the form of flowers or a monetary contribution to the friends of Lake Pontoosuc through the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME who is in charge of arrangements.

1942 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Kearons J. Whalen, III passed away at his home in Pittsfield on Saturday morning. He was 70 years old.
A proud native of Pittsfield, he was born May 25, 1942, to Dr. Kearons J. Whalen and Ann Flay Whalen, attended local schools, and was a member of Pittsfield High School's Class of 1961. After graduating from the University of Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in history, Mr. Whalen earned his juris doctor from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, where he was named to the Law Review. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1968 and, with the late L. George Reder, was founding partner of the firm Reder and Whalen on Wendell Avenue where he practiced law for 45 years.
An avid golfer from his youth, Mr. Whalen was Berkshire County Golf Champion in 1969.
He married the love of his life, the former Susan Reeves of Pittsfield in 1973, and together they raised a family of twelve children who will gratefully carry their father's warmth, wit, and generosity of spirit for the rest of their lives.
He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Earl, and a brother, Marshall D. Whalen.
He leaves a sister, Mrs. Patricia Kelsey of Yarmouth, Maine. Mr. Whalen is survived by his wife, Susan, of Pittsfield and children, Geoffrey (Hilary) of Oakland, CA; Eliza (Marco) and Richard of Great Barrington, Joshua (Leann) of New Lebanon, NY; Rachel of Berkeley, CA; Oliver of Marathon, FL; Kearons (Barrie) of Somerville, MA; Reeves (Jenni) of Denver, CO; Jessy of Pittsfield; as well as Ben and Prudence, both at home. He leaves 13 devoted grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Kearons J. Whalen III will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor. Burial will be at a later date in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, March 5, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Hospice-Care in the Berkshires and the Pittsfield Boys Club, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
