Katheryn M. (Shippee) Janes
Newburyport, MA — Katheryn M. (Shippee) Janes, age 80, of Newburyport, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at Port Healthcare & Rehab Center in Newburyport, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Edgar L. Janes, who died March 9, 2004.
Born in Kensington, New Hampshire, September 5, 1932, she was one of twelve children of the late Roderick F. and Rosemary (LeFleur) Shippee and had attended Amesbury High School. Mrs. Janes had worked at Epicure in Newburyport for many years. Katheryn enjoyed sewing, knitting, making jewelry and playing Bingo. However, here heart belonged to her children and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to her.
Her survivors include two children, Michael Janes and Kathy A. Dick and husband Wayne of Amesbury; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; her brother, Frank Shippee and wife Roberta of Newburyport; three sisters, Gloria Kelleher and husband Richard of Fremont, NH; Rosemary Roy and husband Joseph of Merrimac; and Donna Perkins and husband Peter of S. Hampton, NH; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Roderick F. Shippee, Jr.; Clifford Shippee; William Shippee; and Thomas Shippee; and three sisters, Louise Bradshaw; Gwen Mcleod and Alfrieda Shippee.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury immediately followed by funeral services at 5:00 P.M. Interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Fidelis Hospice, 25 Railroad Square, Haverhill, MA 01832.
