Fredrick "Fred" Jaggers, 79, of Westville, died Aug. 28, 2002 at Provena USMC, Logan campus, Danville, Ill. Fred was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Hillsdale, Ind., the son of Roy and Lu (Fortune) Jaggers. He married Betty Hart on Aug. 22, 1957, at the Catlin Church of Christ. She survives.
Also surviving: a daughter, Carol (Terry) Barney of Westville; two sons, John "Frank" (Karen) Jaggers of Continental, Ohio, and Larry (Terri) Jaggers of Danville; six grandchildren, Tony and Todd Barney of Westville, Jodi Brant of Defiance, Ohio, Christal Jaggers of Lafayette, Ind., and Tera and Travis Jaggers of Danville; three great-grandchildren, Jorden Barney, Dylan Jaggers and Caden Brant; a special cousin, Winnie Naylor. Fred was preceded by his parents, a grandson, Tom Barney, and a sister, Freda Powell.
Fred retired from General Motors as a millwright at the Tilton Foundry. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army as a sergeant. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. He was a member of the Martin F. Vutrick American Legion Post #51 in Westville, the UAW #579 in Tilton and the VFW in Danville. Fred enjoyed fishing, his garden and most of all he loved to spend time with his family.
Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Westville was in charge of the arrangements; Officiating: Rev. Steve Rutter; Place of rest: Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Westville with military rites conducted by the Westville Legion; In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that in Fred's memory, memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ in Georgetown.
