In 1896, Genealogist Pierce wrote the Gov. on Peaks Island ME telling him that he had "found" his family line (the erroneous line to Dr. Ebenezer of Epping) and asking him to put his photo in the genealogy for "only $10." The Gov. was also corresponding with the editor of Lewisiana (Carll Lewis), trying to establish details concerning the relationship to Naomi Lewis. Apparently, John's father's untimely death in 1829 occurred before anyone in the family really could query him about his ancestry, and the Gov. failed to get many questions answered.

Sanguinetti?s 100th birthday celebrated in Woodbridge

    By News-Sentinel staff | Posted Nov 22, 2001

Friends and family of long-time Lodi resident Pearl Sanguinetti celebrated her life Nov. 3 in honor of her coming 100th birthday.

Sanguinetti was born Pearl Atwood in Alameda on Dec. 6, 1901, the second of seven children. After the family survived the San Francisco earthquake of 1906, they moved to Modesto.

Atwood then moved to Lodi, where she met and married Frank Sanguinetti. They lived on a ranch in Acampo, where they raised and exhibited palomino horses.

The couple was often seen showing the golden horses adorned with silver-fitted saddles in Lodi parades and celebrations. After the death of Frank Sanguinetti, Pearl Sanguinetti moved into town.

She actively participated in many local organizations over the years, and was one of the founding members of both the Community Concert and the Emblem Club. She was also very active in the Lodi Community Art Center and Republican Women?s organization.

An artist in her own right, she produced paintings, and designed and made her own clothes.

In recognition of her achievements, Sanguinetti received certificates of Recognition from the State Assembly, San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, Rep. Richard Pombo, and one from the Lodi City Council, which was presented by Mayor Alan Nakanishi.

The birthday celebration consisted of a buffet prepared by the honoree?s great niece, Vicki Nolta of Willows, and an open house Nov. 3 at the Woodbridge Elks Lodge.

The guest of honor was presented to her friends and family by her great niece, Karen Tungate of Valley Springs.

  • She died on 29 December 2002 in Lodi, California, at age 101.8,3
