ohn Flavel Fisk
Fisk was born in Genesee County, New York, in 1815, the son of a physician who settled in Kenton County, Kentucky, in 1837. He was educated at the Freeman Carey Institute, Hamilton County, Ohio, and in 1840-41 began a teaching career at the Germantown Academy in Mason County, Kentucky. In 1842, he became principal of the Maysville Academy, remaining there until 1844.
He read law and was admitted to the bar of Kenton County, Kentucky, in 1848. He served as both Covington, Kentucky, city attorney and Kenton county attorney, and in 1857, was elected to the Kentucky Senate where he was later elected speaker. He died in Covington in 1902.
