• John Anderson Laird was born on 5 May 1908.¹
• Father: Dr John Smith Laird - Mother: Jessie Amelia Anderson.¹
• He graduated from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, in 1930 where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.¹
• He was employed by Proctor & Gamble, Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1935 and later managed their Louisville office.¹
• He married Sophia Helen Fisk, daughter of Otis Harrison Fisk and Helen Whitelaw Pogue, on 30 October 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio.^1,1
• In 1938 John and Sophia moved to Louisville, Kentucky, temporarily, but remained there 56 years until they retired to Hawaii.¹
• John and Sophia bought a small store and grew it into a large business - Dolfingers, with 5 branches in the Louisville area. They both worked in the store, managing and selling.¹
• John and Sophia lived in Harbor Point, Michigan, across the lake (Lake Michigan) from Petosky. Their cottage is one of the oldest on the point, being built by Sophia's grandparents in 1898. The family would go there every summer.¹
• He died on 5 December 1998 in Honolulu, Hawaii, at age 90.¹
• He was buried in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky.¹
