Sally was the daughter of Healy and Frances (Burdett) Randall. She graduated from Waterbury, Vt. High School in 1947, Colby Junior College, New London, in 1949 and Syracuse University in 1952. She took additional courses at Tufts University. While at Syracuse she became a member of Pi Beta Phi. Sally worked as a recreation director in Arlington, Mass., Leominster, Mass. and Woodstock, Vt. before becoming a physical education teacher for the Town of Stoneham, Mass.
Members of her family surviving include a brother Dan Randall of Portland, Maine; and stepsisters Jean Allen of Hanover, and Grace Ryder of Campton. Nieces are Diana Morgan Weith of York, Pa., Susan Morgan Schnorf of Marietta, Ga., Deborah Randall Dickey of West Newton, Mass., Jennifer Randall Brooks of Scarborough, Maine; and nephew Dan Randall, Jr. of Chilmark, Mass.
Margaret J. "Peg" Randall, 80, of Rutland, died Sept. 21, 2012, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. She was born on April 10, 1932, in Bennington, Vt., the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Noteman) Jewett. Peg graduated from Bennington High School in 1950 and earned an associate degree in dental hygiene from the University of Vermont in 1952. She married Dan B. Randall on May 29, 1955.
She served as board member and president of the Sunset Home, was a member and treasurer of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and volunteered with Community Child Care for many years. Peg enjoyed knitting, playing bridge, puzzles (especially crossword) and listening to Red Sox games on the radio.
In addition to her husband, Dan B. Randall Sr. of Rutland, Vt., she is survived by son Dan B. Randall Jr. of Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; two daughters, Deborah Dickey and husband Rob of Newton, Mass., and Jennifer Brooks and husband Adam of Scarborough, Maine; seven grandchildren; sister Polly of Bennington; brother Paul and wife Debbie of Bennington, Vt.; and nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a service on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Tossing Funeral Home located at 39 Washington St. in Rutland, with the Rev. John M. Longworth, pastor of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, officiating. Donations may be made in Peg's name to The Boys and Girls Club of Rutland County, P.O. Box 636, Rutland, VT 05702. Tossing Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
