Biography

George Andrews Moriarty was born on 14 February 1883 in Newport, Rhode Island.^1,2
He graduated from Harvard University in 1905 with a A.B., cum laude. In 1907 he earned an M.A. from Harvard after spending a year at Christ Church College in Oxford England where he specialized in historical studies.²
George Andrews Moriarty was a diplomat, then US consular agent and secretary in Fiume, Austria-Hungary.³
He married Olga Alojzia Melania Katalin Gillming on 18 March 1908 in London; St Giles, England.³
George and Olga were divorced in 1911.³
He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1916 and practiced in Providence RI & Boston MA for over 10 years.²
He was a very famous genealogist, submitting 134 articles to the NEHGR, 75 articles to TAG.²
He married Louise Dittemore on 30 September 1930 in York County, Maine.⁴
He died on 12 July 1968 in Wells, Maine, at age 85.^1,5
George Moriarty was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the National Genealogical Society.²

George was well connected to the founding of the Christian Science Church. In fact, he married Louise Dittemore (Alfau) whose father was a founding member of the church.

His first marriage:

Olga Gilliming who me married 18 March 1908 in London, England. She was born in Budepest, Turkey.

His second marriage was to Louise Dittemore on 30 Sept 1930 in York Co., Maine. It was her second marriage, the first being to Count Alfonso Alfua from Spain.

George was the son of Wheelock Peet Bingham 1833-1906 and Sarah Gould Sprauge 1835-1867. His father had married 4 times and I have not found in what order Sarah was.
