Phil was an oil man in Montana and a grocer in Santa Monica, CA. He had a beautiful wife, Thelma, and daughter, DeeDee. They were separated at the time of their deaths.
On April 17, 1930, Phil asked Thelma to bring his Daughter, DeeDee, to his apartment just a few blocks from where she was living with her mother and sisters in Santa Monica, Ca. Fearful for Thelma's safety, her Mother and sisters begged her not to go. Thelma assured them it would be only for a few minutes, Phil just wanted to see DeeDee. She promised she'd return home in an hour.
When she didn't return home as promised, the family began to worry. Santa Monica Police arrived at the family home and broke the tragic news that Thelma, DeeDee and Phil were dead. Thelma and DeeDee had been shot as they lay on the bed holding each other. Phil took his own life moments later.
Newspaper clippings state Phil had been ill for sometime and despondant about the break up of his marriage.
Thelma and DeeDee are buried together in Lehi Cemetery, Lehi, Utah.
Thelma Austin Server was my Great Aunt.
