The (Colby) family settled on Colby street, north of where E. H. Colby now lives. The latter was born in his present home February 4, 1827, and has always lived in this immediate vicinity. He has followed agriculture, has always been interested in public affairs, and is a firm but conservative Republican. For thirty-five years he has been an active member and trustee of the Baptist church. In 1848 (Nov 29) he married Sarah, daughter of William Webster, the latter a member of one of the pioneer families of this region, and they have had these children: Harriet, wife of Louis M. Millener; Frances, wife of A. D. Preston; George E., Ella, wife of Lewis W. Adams, and William W., all of Ogden.4

Sara Smith, in Indiana, Pa., formerly of Webster, N.Y., March 28, 1972. She is survived by two sons, Donald of Indiana, Pa., Robert of Tonowanda, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Warren (Gene) Neely of Newark, N.Y.; ten grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call at Smith and Lotze Funeral Chapel, 10 Lapham Park, Webster fro 2-4 and 7-9 where services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. Charles Griffith officiating. Interment, Webster Rural Cemetery.6

Charlot Nelece Smith, age 92, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at her home. She was born in 1917 in San Francisco Co., CA to George and Mabel Casey Rader.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Indiana, where she was active in the Altar Guild, ECW, Daughters of the King, and many church functions. She was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels since its inception. She was also a member of the Evergreen Garden Club, the YMCA, the American Red Cross, and many other organizations.
Charlot was a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing, San Francisco, CA. A veteran of WW II she served in the US Army Nurse Corps.
Charlot is survived by four daughters, Susan Fay Smith, Burlington, VT; Judy Smith-Gingras, Columbia, MD; Robin W. Hope and husband John, Greensburg; Kristi Altrogge and husband Mark, Indiana; 14 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Donald F. Smith in 1996, and by two brothers, George and Robert Rader.1
