Donald Peterson Hopper, 86, of Franklin Grove, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon. He was a life-time farmer in the Lee County area and worked for the John Deere Dealership in Dixon for 20 years, prior to his retirement.
Donald was born February 17, 1927, in Huron, SD, the son of Ivan and Margaret (Peterson) Hopper. He married Betty Lou Goeman on January 20, 1952, in Woonsocket, SD.
Donald served in the United States Army and was a member of Living History Antique Equipment Association in Franklin Grove.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hopper; one son, Donald (Bonnie) Hopper; one daughter, Deborah Bubrick; two brothers, Howard (Del Rita) Hopper and Richard Hopper; one sister, Norma (Lewis) Patterson; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Erik Atkinson) Bubrick, Erin (Shane) Knapp, Kevin (Stephanie) Hopper and Kelly (James Miles) Hopper; four great grandchildren, Brody Hopper, Marlee Hopper, Margaret Atkinson; and Jense Atkinson.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Hopper; one brother, Robert Hopper and his son-in-law, Bruce Bubrick.
Per Donald’s request, there will not be any funeral service or visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial has been established.

Betty Lou Hopper, 85, of Franklin Grove, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019, at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center .
She was a lifetime farmer in Lee County area.
Betty was born, August 21, 1933, in Cuthbert, SD, the daughter of Anthony and Berniece (Rindels) Goeman. She married Donald P. Hopper on January 20, 1952, in Woonsocket, SD. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2014.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Franklin Grove and Living History Antique Equipment Association. Betty enjoyed sewing as a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Women's Sewing group.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Bubrick; son, Donald E. (Bonnie) Hopper; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Erik Atkinson) Bubrick, Erin Bubrick, Kevin (Stephanie) Hopper and Kelly Hopper; nine great-grandchildren, Brody Hopper, Marlee Hopper, Beckett Hopper, Kendall Hopper, Margaret Atkinson, Jense Atkinson, Hazel Atkinson, Celia Atkinson, and Mabel Bubrick.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Susan Hopper /a, son-in-law, Bruce Bubrick; and two brothers, Robert and Ronald Goeman.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial of cremated remains will be at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Living History Antique Equipment Association and St. Paul Lutheran Sewing group.

The funeral services for Mrs. Oral S. Hopper, 66, Cavour, who died Friday at St. John's Reginal Medical Center, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Person officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Miner, Ray O. Paye, Johnny Hinkley, Don Engel, Lyle Nelson and Ralph Bloodgood.
Ethel Grace Renshaw was born March 12, 1906, to Frank and Ida Renshaw in Sioux Falls. As a child she moved to Hartford and in 1920 to Beadle County. She had lived in Huron and Beadle County ever since. She attended the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Oral, Cavour; Six children, Mrs. Marshall (Doris) Kouf, Huron, Mrs James (Lois) Coughlin, West Point, Nebraska, Lyle of Hurricane, Utah, Mrs. Phillip (Shirley) Hess, Roswell, N. M., Mrs Ronald (Beverly) Jorgenson, Memphis, Tenn., and Lynn of Cavour; one sister, Mrs Lester (Hazel) Eastman, Clinton, Minn.; one brother Archie Renshaw, Huron; 16 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys, two brothers and her parents.
Beverly Jo Ann Jorgensen
Beverly Jorgensen, age 76, of 1129 Kansas Ave. SE, Huron, SD, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home, Huron, SD.
Her graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Beadle County Humane Society or donor's choice.
Beverly Jorgensen was born Beverly Jo Ann Hopper on September 4, 1932, to Oral and Ethel (Renshaw) Hopper in rural Cavour, SD. She graduated from Huron High School in 1950.
On April 8, 1951, Beverly married Ronald Norman Jorgensen at First United Methodist Church in Huron.
Beverly was an accountant for K-Mart Corporation, and in addition to living in Huron, she lived in Ypsilanti, Michigan; North Platte, Nebraska; St. Joseph, Missouri; Norfolk, Nebraska; Memphis, Tennessee; Phoenix, Arizona; Woodbury, Minnesota; then returning to Huron.
Beverly died on the day of her 58th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her husband Ron of Huron; 3 sisters: Doris Kouf of Huron, SD, Lois (James) Coughlin of Omaha, NE, and Shirley (Phillip) Hess of Roswell, NM; 1 brother: Lynn (Darlene) Hopper of Cavour, SD; 2 grandchildren: Robert (Faith) Jorgensen of Florence, KY, and Scott Jorgensen of Florence, KY; and 2 great grandchildren: Danielle Jorgensen, and Ronald D. Jorgensen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons: a stillborn infant, and a grown son, Kim Ronald Jorgensen (38 years old); 1 brother: Lyle Hopper; 1 sister-in-law: Marge Hopper; a 1 brother-in-law: Marshall Kouf.
Lynn Hopper, age 77, of rural Cavour, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at his home.
His funeral service was Monday, January 13, 2014, at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Manchester Cemetery.
Lynn Arnold Hopper was born on January 7, 1937, near Cavour to O.S. and Ethel (Renshaw) Hopper.
Lynn became interested in music at an early age, learning to play the guitar. He played on the radio in Huron and also in Nebraska. Lynn also went out on tour to several states. He played at the South Dakota State Fair with The Louvin Brothers and the North Dakota Fair with Wade Jackson. Lynn served in the U.S. Air Force in 1954.
On January 12, 1958, Lynn married Darlene Ferguson in Manchester, SD. They started their own band that they toured with and recorded Country Western music with. Lynn also helped his father blade township roads. He also attended Mitchell Tech and earned a degree in Heating and Air Conditioning. Starting in 1989, until they retired in 2010, the couple ran the Coney Island Café in Huron.
Lynn is survived by his wife of 55 years, Darlene Hopper of Cavour; daughter, Sandra (Brett) Aldrich of Cavour; granddaughter, Cassandra "Sadie" Aldrich of Cavour; grandson-in-law, Edras Chua of Kansas City, KS; great grandchildren, Diego and Alejandra Chua; two sisters, Lois (JP) Coughlin of Omaha, NE, and Shirley (Phil) Hess of Roswell, NW; brothers-in-law, Ronald Jorgensen of Huron, Norman (Lois) Ferguson of Huron, Bob (Carla) Ferguson of Iowa, Leonard (Roseann) Ferguson of Illinois, and Donald Ferguson of Minnesota; sister-in-law, Mary (Carl) Borrett of Iowa, and Sharon Crumrine of Wyoming; several nieces and nephews.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris (Marshall) Kouf, Beverly Jorgensen, and infant Gladys Hopper; brother, Lyle (Marge) Hopper; granddaughter, Brittney Chua; and great granddaughter, Hanna Chua.
