Warren R. Church, 90, passed away on March 13, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was born in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont July 28, 1927, to the late Marie Blake and Warren Carl Church.
Warren served in the Coast Guard during World War II and was honorably discharged. Warren earned his BS in dairy science and an MS in Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State College. He retired from the Alfa Laval Separator Company. He lived in Poughkeepsie with his wife Barbara for 46 years before moving to Woodland Pond in New Paltz, NY.
On March 26, 1955 in Port Huron, Michigan, Warren married the love of his life Barbara B. Church. His wife of 61 years survives at home. He is also survived by his son Steven and his wife Marilyn of CT; his daughter Carol and her husband Doug of Highland Park, NJ; his grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle, Rebekah, Andy and Sarah; his sibling Rodney Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son David and brother Carrol.
A kind and gentle soul, Warren was most known in our area for his sweet disposition and willingness to help others. Warren was a member of the New Hackensack Reformed Church. Along with his wife, Barbara, he was an avid supporter of the Hudson Valley Symphony Orchestra, and actively served in an ecumenical movement in the Hudson Valley, Tres Dias. They volunteered respectively with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The couple went on camping trips in their motor home. They canoed extensively, especially in the northern Adirondacks.
A graveside service for immediate family will be held on Friday, March 23 at 11:30 AM at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodland Pond, New Paltz at a later date
