Veronica, age 69, of Whitewater, WI, passed away Monday at the Select Specialty Hospital. Veronica was born in Indianapolis the daughter of Herbert & Julia (Neukom) Trees. She graduated from Anderson High School in Anderson, IN, in 1957, and she received a Bachelors Degree in Education from Indiana University in 1961. She taught Art for 35 years at Jackson Junior High School in Villa Park, IL. On July 15, 1989, Veronica married James Davis in Villa Park, IL. Veronica was an artist, working primarily with watercolors and pen and ink. Her artwork has been recognized with awards at both the state and local levels. She was also a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, The Whitewater Arts Alliance, the Red Hat Society of Whitewater, Florence Basset, and Delta Zeta Sorority. Spending time with her grandchildren was one of her greatest joys. She loved to take them shopping, to attend their activities, and to have special one-on-one time with each of them. Surviving are her husband, James Davis, of Whitewater, WI; two daughters, Melissa (Douglas) Burmeister of Monticello, IN, and Stephanie Luengen of Elkhorn, WI; son, Shawn (Susan) Girtz of Twin Lakes, WI; grandchildren: Samantha and Julia Girtz, Trisha Luengen and Nicolaus Burmeister; brother, Craig (Dianne) Trees of Anderson, IN; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and one great-nephew. Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Emily Trees. Visitation was held at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Whitewater, services followed.
