Marvin Gay, 75, of Robins, died December 18, 2008 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Dale Holloway of Living Hope Wesleyan Church will officiate. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, December 22, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Interment will take place at Jordan's Grove Cemetery in Central City at 1:30 PM.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years Irma; daughters Sharon Geneske and husband Randy of Lisbon, and Debra Brenneman and husband Dave of Central City; grandchildren Nichole Roos and husband Jim of Atkins, Matthew DeMuth of California, Rachel DeMuth of Lisbon, Dawniell Balderston and husband Aaron of Central City, and Dannette Becker of Redwood Falls, MN, and Bryce and Casandra Brenneman; four step grandchildren Rachel, Craig and Stephanie Geneske, and Anne Brenneman; great grandchildren Austin and Adam Roos, and Jordan, Breanne and Mason Balderston; a brother Tom Gay; and a sister Shirley Lockwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Betty.
Marvin Gay was born July 21, 1933 in Albia, Iowa the son of Earl and Mary Ellen (Brackett) Gay. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Irma E. White on October 19, 1952 in Washington, IA. He was employed for over 34 years as a Foreman at Rockwell Collins. He was a member of Living Hope Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed bowling, woodworking, hunting, fishing, and above all his family. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Marvin's honor has been established.
