MUNCIE--Mary E. Dunham, 91, passed away Tuesday morning, January 10, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born on April 15, 1920 in Hanover, MI, the daughter of William and Florence (Center) Burdette.
Mary married the love of her life, Morton D. Dunham, in 1947 and he preceded her in 2001.
Mrs. Dunham is a graduate of Dimondale High School in Dimondale, MI, and later graduated from the Lansing Business College in Lansing, MI. She had worked as a Secretary to the Vice President of Housing at Ball State University for 11 years prior to her retirement in 1978. Mary enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling and activities with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Marc Dunhar (wife-Jane) of Knoxville, TN, and Martin L. Dunham, Muncie; one granddaughter, Kristin D. Dunham (fiance-Brian Moegenberg) of St. Johns, MI; one sister, Marjorie L. Powell (husband-Charles), Morganton, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her hsuband of 54 years, Morton, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Myrtle Leisenring.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing, MI, with Pastor Wes Emerson officiating. Parson Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

MUNCIE--Mr. Morton D. Dunham, 83, Muncie, died Wednesday evening in Parker Health Care after an extended illness.
A native of Armada, Mich., he was the son of Dorrance and Cordelia Dryer Dunham. Mr. Dunham attended school in Michigan and received his bachelor's, master's and EEd degrees from Michigan State University. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in Africa and Europe. Mr. Dunham retired in 1983 from Ball State University after 25 years service as a professor of psychology. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Muncie, Indiana State Teachers Association, Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity and American Legion Post 19, Muncie. Mr. Dunham was a Master Gardener, having completed the Purdue Program at Minnetrista Center. He was a former member of the Miinnetrista Horticultural Society.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Burdette Dunham; two sons, Marc Dunham (wife-Jane), Knoxville, Tenn., and Martin Dunham, Muncie; a brother, Lee Dunham (wife-Melva), Armanda, Mich.; and a granddaughter, Kristin Dunham, St. Johns, Mich.
A brother, Lyle Dunham, is deceased.
Mr. Dunham will be cremated. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Parson Mortuary.

Lyle B. Leisenring, 86, of Springfield, Missouri, director of admissions and records with Southwest Missouri State University before his retirement, passed away at Mercy Villa Nursing Center on the morning of Monday, November 27, 2000. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29, 2000, 7-8 p.m., at Ayre-Goodwin-Lee Funeral Home, 4500 South Lone Pine, Springfield. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, November 30, 2 p.m., at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2441 South Lone Pine, Springfield, officiated by Reverend Ronald LaVoie. Burial will follow at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
