C. M. Reyner Rites are Wednesday
Services for Charles Marvin Reyner, 56, who died Saturday at the Veteran’s Hospital in Battle Creek, was held Wednesday from the Harbor Springs, United Methodist Church. Rev. Phillip Brown officiated and interment was in Lakeview Cemetery.
He was born July 13, 1917 in Detroit and moved to Petoskey with his parents in the early 1920's. He was a graduate of Petoskey High School.
Mr. Reyner was a disabled veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater.
He served as editor of the former Emmet County Graphical Harbor Springs after World War II in the late 1940's. He also served as manager of various Western Union branch offices including Decatur, Ill. and Plainwell, Mich. He was an advertising salesman in later years.
On January 24, 1942 he married the former Kathryn VanDeusen in Harbor Springs and they made their home there.
Mr. Reyner was a member of the United Methodist Church; the Smith-Hoover American Legion Post No. 231, in Harbor Springs; the Petoskey Lodge No. 282 of Odd Fellows; the Emmet county VFW No. 2051 and the Petoskey Chapter DAV, in Petoskey.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles, Sr., of Wiesenberg, W. Germany and David P., of Lansing; two daughters, Julie, at home and Mrs. Forrest (Janice) William, of East Lansing; two grandchildren; his father, Charles Reyner, of Petoskey; three brothers, Freal, of Boise, Idaho, Lynn of Petoskey and Rev. Louis Reyner, of Bay Port, Mich.

David P. Reyner, 41, of Lansing died September 15, 1986, in Haslett.
Memorial service was Thursday, September 18 in the First Christian Church (Disciples) of Lansing with the Rev. Donald L. Booher officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery in Harbor Springs.
Mr. Reyner was born August 20, 1945, in Petoskey. He attended and graduated from Harbor Springs High School. He was a teacher at MacDonald Middle School in East Lansing and was active in the Michigan and NATIONAL Codicils of Mathematics Teachers. He graduated from Michigan State University with a master's degree in mathematics and was an elder of the First Christian Church (Disciples) in Lansing.
He is survived by his wife, the former LaVaun Hewitt; two daughters; Melissa and Laura; a son, Brian; his mother and stepfather, Kathryn and Robert Jensen of Harbor Springs; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Hewitt of Conway; one brother, Charles of Germany, and two sisters, Julie Chapman of Battle Creek and Janice Williams of Caseville, as well as several nephews.
