Bernice Monson Hoggard died on August 7, 2008 in Bountiful, Utah. She resided at 1916 North East 27th Street in Renton, Washington at the time of her death.
She was born May 6, 1924 in American Fork, Utah to Horace Edward Monson and Mary Bernice Smith. She grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah graduating from Pleasant Grove High School and attended Brigham Young University. She married Phil Proctor Hoggard on July 31, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple. Bernice is the mother of five children, 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two additional great-grandchildren expected in 2008. Bernice and Phil moved to Seattle, from Pleasant Grove, Utah in 1953 and raised their children in Renton, Washington. Bernice served the City of Renton for over 21 years building the City's Senior Activity Center Program. At Bernice's retirement in 1986 it was stated that Bernice "left a legacy that included one of, if not the finest, programs for senior citizens in the country." Her program has been emulated by other cities throughout the Seattle area and state of Washington. At that time about four hundred seniors would visit the Renton Senior Center each day.
In addition to being preceded in death by a multitude of the seniors Bernice loved and served over the years, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Phil, a daughter, JoAnn Dyer, two brothers and three sisters. Bernice is survived by three daughters, Carolyn, Janette, and Betty, a son, Calvin and by her brother, Dave.
Funeral Services for Bernice will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the Warenski Funeral Home Chapel, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Family and Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to services.
Interment: American Fork City Cemetery.1

He worked for the NYS Dept. of OGS for five years as a locksmith, retiring in 1983 and previously worked for NYS Tax and Finance for 15 years. He was a staff sergeant in the US Army during WW II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a Stillwater resident for the last 20 years and previously of Latham for 10 years. He was a communicant of St. Peter & St. Paul Church in Mechanicville. He was a member of the American Legion in Mechanicville, the VFW Post in Stillwater, the Fish House Rod and Gun Club in Sacandaga. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking and formerly worked as a carpenter at St. Agnes Church in Cohoes. He was the father of four; one brother, Edward DeLude of Fern Park, FL. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was employed by the NYS Dept. of Taxation & Finance and later by the NYS Comptrollers Office for over 20 years before retiring due to his illness in 2009. He was an avid Miami Dolphins football fan and a New York Mets baseball fan. He is the beloved son of Janet DeLude Madigan of Latham and the late Edmund W. Madigan. WILLBURN E. HOGGARD, 67, died May 17, 2004 at his residence in Fallon. He was born October 9, 1936 in American Fork, UT to Wilburn Harriet Mann Hoggard, and had lived in Fallon for 16 years.
He was a self-employed drilling contractor, working in minerals exploration domestic water wells.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Fallon; sons, Val, of Chino Valley, AZ; and Rex, of Provo, UT; daughters, Shirley Hester of Wheatridge, CO; Elaine Hurst of Irmo, SC; and Tracy Redd of St. George, UT; sister, Welma Williams of Mesa, AZ; and brother, Keith of Monticello, UT; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 pm at the Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Drive in Fallon. Inurnment will be private.
Memorials are established with the American Cancer Society, 6490 S. McCarran Blvd. Reno, NV 89509 and the SPCA of N. Nevada, 840 E. 5th St., Reno, NV 89512 or the animal shelter of one's choice.
