Karl Rex Hoggard May 9, 1958 - February 21, 2022

Karl Rex Hoggard passed away on February 21, 2022 at the age of 63 after suffering a second stroke.
Rex was born on May 9, 1958 in Monticello, UT to W.E. Hoggard, Jr and Yvonna Harvey Hoggard. Rex was raised in Blanding, UT with his brother and three sisters.
Rex grew up loving the outdoors and he had many friends and cousins in those early years who can probably relate numerous stories of fun and mischief. He knew where to find both of those things.
He had several scout masters that he talked about years later that were a huge influence on him. He earned his Eagle Scout because of those wonderful leaders.
Rex learned to work hard from his Dad and when he was old enough he began helping on his Dad's drilling rigs.
He worked for a short time as a butcher at Blanding Mercantile, but he would spend most of his adult life as a truck driver. He worked for Huff and HayHot when he lived in Utah Valley.
Rex was a very dedicated, determined and hard worker. He traveled all over the country delivering goods.
He always made a point of contacting family or friends who happened to live in the places he stopped or passed through. He brought a smile everywhere he went.
Rex was very talented with woodburning and leather crafts. Many of us have something he made us hanging on a wall or a leather wallet or keychain with our names carved in it.
Rex loved family. He had a very tender heart and he wore his emotions on his sleeve.
Whenever he talked about any of his children or grandchildren it was with great pride and joy. They were the light of his life and that includes nieces and nephews.
His infectious smile will be dearly missed.
Rex is survived by his mother Yvonna Hoggard, brother Val Hoggard, and sisters Shirley (Mark) Hester, Elaine (Kent) Hurst, and Tracy (Russell) Redd.
Those he considered his children include Brannen (Melissa) Evans, Bethanie (Bryan) Palmer, Jory (Heather) Shumway, Tristen (Megan) Shumway, Kaytlin, Divinya, Leland, Emma, and Ali Hoggard, Katie (Shelton) Shumway, and Charlie (Jenni) Hoggard.
He was blessed with numerous grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on February 26, 2022, with interment at the Blanding City Cemetery.
Card of thanks
The family of Rex Hoggard would like to thank all those who supported and helped Rex in any way the past few months especially those who visited him when he was in the hospital in Farmington, NM. We are grateful for your love and kindness at this difficult time.1
