Sponsor this memorial with an exclusive premium layout and no ads . Sponsor this page Dollores Bryson Shelledy graced this earth for 95 years, sharing her talents, beauty and love with everyone she met. She passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022 of age related causes, surrounded by her family.

Dollores was born April 7, 1927, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alden Charles Bryson and Audra Turner Bryson. She was the second of their three daughters. Her father passed away suddenly when she was three years old, and her family lived in diminished means until her mother remarried when she was fourteen. Her stepfather, George Wilson, was a quiet, loving man and was very good to her family. She often spoke fondly of the fishing trips she shared with him.

She graduated from East High School and worked at Keith O'Brien's department store before she met and married Dean Shelledy on July 3, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had six children, two together and four more they adopted. Being a mother was one of her greatest joys.

Dollores used her life and talents to the fullest. With her beautiful soprano voice, she sang in many choirs, the Salt Lake Oratorical Society and shared many solos at church. She diligently learned to sing opera songs in many different languages.

She loved animals and always had a dog or two. She loved serving as a docent for the Hogle Zoo, especially when she could share the animals and their stories with children in the community. She also loved communicating, in only the way she could, with many of the zoo's residents! Her grandchildren were mesmerized when she "talked" to her monkey friend because he always "talked" back.

She was an artist of note and sculpted the many animals she loved, usually mothers with their babies, life size and in bronze. Many of her pieces can be seen in several places around the country. Most notable is her Rhino, Ostrich and Tigers at the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake. She especially loved seeing the photos that people took of their children posing with them.

She loved the gospel and served the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many and various callings throughout her life. She humbly carried out her service in a loving and quiet way. She especially enjoyed working in the baptistry for many years at the Jordan River Temple.

Her greatest talents were her ability to love, forgive and accept everyone who crossed her path. She was generous is every way possible and was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. Her life was a master class in unconditional love.

She was married to her husband Dean for over 60 years. He was her strong arm, her abundant provider, a great supporter of her art, and together they blazed a trail of many houses, cars, children, dogs and interests. They traveled the world and always shared many wonderful memories with their friends and family.

Dollores was preceded in death by her husband Dean, her parents Alden and Audra, and stepfather George Wilson, her sisters June Lehmberg and Norma Workman, and her grandson Joshua.

She is survived by her children; Deann Williams (Dennis), Steven Shelledy (Lisa) in Paris France, David Shelledy (Olivé), Su'ann Shelledy, Denalee Cheever (Joe) and Shawn Shelledy (Misty). 18 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and her best friend Tali.

The family would like to thank the crew from United Fire Authority Station #121 in Riverton, Utah; the ER and Orthopedic departments at IMC; the amazing staff at the Stonehenge Rehabilitation Center So Jordan and the wonderful team with Health Watch Hospice care. She was in such great hands for her end of life care.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be at the funeral home on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. To view the service online, or to leave condolences, please visit www.jenkins-soffe.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Utah, she would love that!2
