"NICHOLAS MERWIN was born say 1555. Virtually nothing is known ofthis man, but he was almost certainly the brother of Anthony Merwin,because Nicholas' grandson and heir male, Thomas Merwin Jr. was madeAnthony's chief heir. Likewise, Nicholas' second son, Walter Merwinnamed a son Anthony, and also served as a witness to the 1634 will ofthe senior Anthony Merwin.

Nicholas married by 1580, but the name of his wife has not beenl earned. There is no record of his burial at Amersham, and it seemslikely that he moved with his brother Anthony to Clewer, Berkshire,for which early parish registers have not survived. No probate recordfor Nicholas Merwin has been found."
