- John Sacket was born in 1632 in Newtown (now Cambridge), Massachusetts, Supposedly John is the first white child born in Newtown.1
- In 1653 John and Simon moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, They took the oath of fidelity on 23 Mar 1656. John afterwards moved to Northampton, and then to Westfield.1
- John Sacket married Abigail Hannum, daughter of William Hannum and Honor Capen, on 23 November 1659 in Northampton, Massachusetts.1
- In 1670 John was one of the original settlers of Westfield. There he took an oath of allegiance to the King.1
- On 27 October 1675 his house and barn were burned by the Indians. At the same time they destroyed a large amount of property. They also drove off his cattle. He rebuilt his house and barn, and then built a saw mill on the river that ran through his property. But then, because of a lawsuit, he had to take down the saw mill. He became a selectman in 1672, and still held the office in 1693.1
- John Sacket married Sarah Stiles on 15 January 1690/91 in Westfield, Massachusetts.1
- He died on 8 April 1719 in Westfield, Massachusetts, at age ~87.1
Will
John Sacket left a will dated on 10 May 1718 in Westfield, Massachusetts, He named his wife Sarah, son John, daughters Hannah, Mary and Abigail, grandson William Sacket, and the unnamed children of his sons William and Samuel. He appointed his grandson William (a minor at age 18) as his executor - unusual for the time. The Probate court then appointed John Sackett (the deceased's elder son) as administrator until William turned 21.
