Charles W. Burditt, 72, died at the Community Hospital Thursday [no date given]. He had been a patient there 11 days. cause of death, Cerebral Hemorrhage.
Mr. Burditt was born at Charlestown, Mass., November 18, 1873, the son of Henry Oscar and Mary Newhall Burditt. He came to Rumford 45 years ago, and until he retired from business a few years ago, owned and operated a grocery store. He married the late Gertrude Brimigion Burditt.
Mr. Burditt was past master of Blazing Star Lodge No. 30 F. & A. M., was past high priest of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 56, was past recorder of Strathglass Commandery, No. 21, Knights Templar.
He is survived by two sons, Paul and Donald Burditt, Newark, N. J., a brother, Dana W. Burditt, Ashland, Mass.; three sisters, Mrs. Emma B. Howe, Rumford, Mrs. Henry Dix. Stoneham, Mass., Mrs. Wesley Goodwin, Greenwood, Mass.
Funeral services were at 2 p. m., Monday, at the First Baptist Church. Rev. William Johnson officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Andover. Pall bearers were Basil Gray, Walter Hicks, William Roberts, Rodney McDonald, William Waterhouse, Chester Martin.
