Leslie E. Atwood
Leslie E. Atwood of Newman died at his home. Mr. Atwood was a native of Tulare and moved to Newman at age 18. He lived in Modesto for 24 years and returned to Newman seven years ago.
He was a pilot for the family crop-dusting business in Newman and he and his wife operated a commercial embroidery business for several years. He was a member of Big Valley Grace Church. He was a member of the Planning Commission in Newman and Commemorative Air Force. He served in the Army Reserve for five years.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Atwood of Newman; children, Richard Atwood of Oregon and Leesa Kline of Eureka; stepchildren, Mike Cummins and Ron Cummins, both of Modesto; father, Larry Atwood of Mariposa; sister, Janice Davis of Modesto; and 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fern Atwood; and son Darren Atwood.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Big Valley Grace Church. Private graveside service at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. Lakewood Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Remembrances may be made to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto 95356.
