KENNEWICK, Wash. — After a three-year hard-fought battle with cancer, God took Karen to Heaven to be among the angels on Friday, June 29. We are sad to see her leave us and blessed that we had her in our lives.

Karen was born Dec. 23, 1960, to Paul and Sandra Anderson in Glendive. She was spirited, quick-witted and fiercely independent. She graduated from Dawson HS and then made her way to Denver where she worked for Mountain Bell Telephone and earned her college degree from University of Denver.

There are many things that we all will remember about her as she touched so many lives through her journey. When Karen called you friend, it was an honor, as she chose wisely. It was also a lifelong commitment as she never forgot her friends and they could count on her, no matter what. Her friends were kindred spirits and she was blessed to have such special ones throughout her life. She was selfless, not a single action or decision she ever made was in her own interest. It was always about her family and friends first. She was a devoted mother, kind, hard-working, and had an infectious laugh. She loved to fish, the color purple, going to Rockin’ the Rivers, celebrating Flag Day and being outdoors. She believed in the best of people, faced adversity head on and was not afraid to take chances.

Karen leaves behind her loving husband and soul mate, Brett, whose devotion knows no boundaries and whose humor allowed us to hear that laugh we will miss so much. Karen is also survived by her wonderful son, Derek Dizney, his wife, Kelsey, and 1-year-old grandson, Wyatt; her brother, Steve Anderson, his wife, Laurie; nephews Jake and Josh; and her parents, Paul “Doug” and Sandra Anderson.

Many special thank you notes: To the staff at the Virginia Mason Cancer Research Center for their care and support during this battle; to the employees at Boeing for their continued support; and to those at the state of Montana who donated time for Karen to undergo 87 chemo treatments which gave her precious time to meet her grandson and be with her family. To the Price family, your love and support is truly remarkable and touched all of our lives.

A memorial service is being planned Saturday, July 14, 11 a.m. in Glendive, at the Zion Lutheran Church. Those in attendance, please wear something purple. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on behalf of Karen M. Price to the Virginia Mason Cancer Institute (Oncology) in 1100 Ninth Ave., Seattle Buck Pavilion Level 2, Seattle, WA 98101.
