He died on 1 October 1961 in Lake Placid, New York, at age 58.^2,5

William A. Sturdevant (Bill) was born October 31, 1929 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to William J. and Alta M. Sturdevant. He went to be with his Lord on August 4, 2006, peacefully, in his sleep, at his home in Bethany, Oklahoma. He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church, which he loved. He retired from OG&E after 36 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son and friend to many. His parents, his brother, and his granddaughter, Natalie Jones preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Colleen; daughter Kathryn Jones and husband, Johnny; grandson Chad Baker; son Grant; granddaughter Sanda Dowell and husband Kirk; great grandchildren, Katy and Steven. His sister, Wanda Risdon, and children; stepmother, Clara Belle; two sisters Sarah Hodgens and Judy Mains; and their husbands and children also survive him. In lieu of flowers please send any donations to Peniel Baptist Church or the Aplastic Anemia/ MDS foundation. Funeral services will be at Chapel Hill/Memorial Gardens, NW Highway, between Council and County Line Road, Northside, at 2:00pm, on Tuesday, August 8, 2006. Published in The Oklahoman on 8/6/2006.³
