UNITED STATES NAVY VETERAN OF WW II

Willard F. Nichols of Andover, formerly of Reading, passed away July 9, 2018.

Beloved husband for 68 years of Shirley (Malzahn) Nichols.

Devoted father of Ron Nichols, Marsha Nichols, Bob Nichols and Virginia Bramante. Cherished grandfather of 7 and loving great grandfather of 7.

Dear brother of the late Paul Nichols and June Morong.

Son of the late Chester Nichols and Ruby (Grimm) Nichols.

Willard is a proud retiree of the Reading Fire Department, retiring after 26 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Town of Reading.

During World War II, Willard proudly defended our freedom by serving as a Seaman Second Class in the United States Navy. Willard loved his home on Little Sebago Lake in Maine.

Interment with Military Honors will take place at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.

Published in The Boston Globe on July 12, 2018.

Shirley L. (Malzahn) Nichols of Andover, formerly of Reading, passed away, July 13, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Willard F. Nichols who passed away on July 9, 2018.

Shirley is the loving daughter of the late Edward Malzahn and Catherine (Burnett) Malzahn. Shirley is a warm and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Devoted mother of Ron Nichols, Marsha Nichols, Bob Nichols and Virginia Bramante. Cherished grandmother of 7 and loving great-grandmother of 7.

Interment Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
