MARTIN, Dorothy Dawn Of Cambridge, born February 9, 1927, died on January 31, 2012, after a brief illness. She was predeceased just over a year ago by her husband, Lawrence Edmands Martin, and is now joyfully united with him, "A Gentle Man," alongside his "Beloved," as their epitaphs read. Dotty lived a full and wonderful life devoted to both family and service to the betterment of others including long commitments to the Massachusetts General Hospital Ladies Visiting Committee, the MGH Chapel, and many enjoyable years as a docent at the Museum of Fine Arts. She was devoted to the people of Labrador and Newfoundland through her work with the International Grenfell Association. Her life is cherished by her son Bradford Leland Martin and daughter Dawn Anne Martin, as well as daughter-in-law Albine Katial Martin, and Doris Frazier who was dear to her heart. Dorothy was surrounded by the love of her grandchildren, Rory Manier, Anjalee Martin, Max Manier and Ashley Martin. She is remembered by friends around the world too numerous to count.
Frances Amelia Baker was Anna Hayward Merritt's mother. Anna was a collector of stories about her Baker and Hayward relations. Anna scatters bits about her mother throughout the 1000 pages she typed.
"She was an attractive girl who could sing and play the melodeon. This pleased Daniel DeCamp who was very fond of music. He urged my mother to go home with him, promising her a piano and a musical education. Though this was a tempting offer, my mother did not accept. But she never forgot Daniel nor the temptation of his offer. When her fourth son was born, she named him, "Daniel DeCamp".
"Aunt Sue and mother were married at a double wedding...mother always boasted of having milked six cows on the morning of her wedding day."
After the death of her husband, she sold their home on Elmwood Ave in Lockport NY and spent her remaining years living among her children.
