POCAHONTAS - Lorna Miller, age 84, of Pocahontas, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011, at the Pocahontas Manor in Pocahontas, Iowa.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas with Fr. Dennis Sefcik officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Lorna M. Miller – age 84, of Pocahontas, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011, at the Pocahontas Manor in Pocahontas, Iowa.
Lorna Martha Hodgell was born on January 2, 1927. She was the daughter of Fred and Adda (Quigley) Hodgell. She graduated from Gilmore City High School. On April 22, 1947, Lorna married Vincent Miller in Pocahontas. The couple settled in Pocahontas. Lorna worked as a cook at the Chow House and Chateau. She also worked at several other jobs before retiring. Vincent passed away in 1978.
Lorna was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies Society. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles and gardening. Lorna especially treasured the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, David Miller of Pocahontas; Jay (Pam) Miller of Pocahontas; Alice (Jim) Schuneman of Cairo, NE; Joe (Barb) Miller of Gowrie; Darius (Jackie) Miller of Rockwell City; Joyce (Bob) Ahlers of Laurens and Missy (Dean) Zuetlau of Pocahontas; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Luella Snow of Laurens and a brother, Jim Hodgell of Gilmore City.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vincent; a son, Kelvin; infant brother, Lorraine; brother, Merle Hodgell; sister Edmondeane Ricklefs and three great-grandchildren, Justin, Jenna and Calvin.

Julius Becker, 76, Pocahontas, died Friday morning, March 3, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital, following a heart attack.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 6, at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Pocahontas, with Father David Hogan officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery at Pocahontas.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; daughters, Kathryn Eike, Pocahontas, Margie Rahe, Alta, Janet Dodd, Humboldt, Cheryl Dauffenbach, Mankato, Minn., Connie Hauswirth, El Conjon, Calif.; sons Dennis, Buzzards Bay, Mass., Gerald, Spencer; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was born at Knoke and educated in this Knoke area country schools and the Pomeroy High School. In 1934, he married Rose Miller at Pocahontas. The couple farmed near Pocahontas until 1949 when they moved into town. He worked for many years as a trucker and in construction. In 1966, he began working at Iowa Industrial Hydraulics Plant, Pocahontas, and was employed there until retiring in 1976.

Kathryn A. Eike – age 76, of Pocahontas, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital in Pocahontas, Iowa.
Kathryn Ann Becker was born November 10, 1935, at Knoke, Iowa. She was the daughter of Julius and Rose (Miller) Becker. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1953. On July 25, 1953, Kathy married Richard "Dick" Dobson in Pocahontas. They made their home in Des Moines. On March 7, 1970, Kathy married John Eike in Ames. The couple settled in Pocahontas. Kathy worked at the Pocahontas State Bank for many years, retiring in 1980. John passed away in 1988.
Kathy was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church; Catholic Ladies Society; C.D. of A. and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Pocahontas community and participated in many other groups and organizations. Her favorite interests were playing bridge, reading, attending theater, volunteering, traveling and hosting family, friends & classmates in her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca A. Cullen of Apache Junction, AZ; son, Danny (Pat) Dobson of New Franklin, MO; five grandchildren, Spencer & Travis Cullen, Stacy (Chris) McGowan, Ross & Valerie Dobson; four great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Carol) Becker of Buzzards Bay, MA; sisters, Margie (Ed) Rahe of Alta; Janet (Bob) Dodd of Humboldt and Connie Becker of Bullhead City, AZ and many nieces & nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers, Ronald, Richard and Jerry Becker; sister, Cheryl Daffenbach and nephews, Joey Hauswirth and Ricky Becker.
