Banks Darnell
Banks Shepherd Darnell, 79, died Wednesday at the Holmes County Community Hospital where he had been a patient for three days.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend E.S. Furr officiating. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mr. Darnell was a farmer, a Farm Bureau Insurance agent and a substitute mail carrier. He was a World War I veteran, a member of the American Legion and a Methodist.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Darnell of Lexington; one son, Laurie Darnell of Estill Springs, Tenn., two sisters, Mrs. Alma Grey of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Mary Stroup of Tucson, Arizona; and one grandson, Charlie D. Darnell.

Marie R. Darnell
Mrs. Marie R. Darnell, 90, a homemaker of Lexington, died of heart failure Monday, January 17 at Methodist Hospital of Middle Mississippi in Lexington.
Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 20 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. Officiating minister was Rev. Tom Hollowell. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery
Mrs. Darnell, a Holmes County native, was the daughter of the late John Harvey Roach and Eugenia Buck Roach. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Survivors include a son, Laurie Darnell of Estill Springs, Tennessee and one grandchild.
Serving as active pallbearers were Mac Phillips, Billy Causey, Ernest Lee Ingold, Gene Austin and Bubba Lawshe.
