Clement Clarke Moore was a writer ('Twas the Night Before Christmas.³
He married Catherine Eliza Taylor on 21 November 1813 in New York City, New York.²
Moore lived on his estate named Chelsea, which was north of Greenwich Village. It was mostly open countryside before 1820. Then New York City decided on a street grid & 9th Ave was to go through his land. (the city made roads and flattened hills). The district of Chelsea is named after his estate.³
Clement Clarke Moore was a Professor of Oriental and Greek Literature, and Divinity and Biblical Learning at the General theological Seminary of the Protestant Episcopal Church in New York City.³
He died on 10 July 1863 in Newport, Rhode Island, at age 83.²
