Gary L. "Gumby" Comfort, age 46, a billing clerk for the Genesee and Wyoming Railroad, suddenly entered into eternal rest on March 5, 2002, at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Comfort resided in Wadsworth.
He was born on November 17, 1955 in Warsaw, New York, the son of Leo and Rhea Stone Comfort. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Comfort.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Landers Comfort; sister, Joanne (Nate) Guzzardi of Mount Morris; two brothers, James (Jeanette) Comfort of Kansas City, Missouri, Mark (Teri) Comfort of Wadsworth; his mother, Rhea (George) Root of Livonia; nieces and nephews, including Beamer Guzzardi, Jennifer Guzzardi, Joe Bauer, Zach Landers and Rachel Green; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Eleanor Landers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George (Tracy) Landers of Mooresville, North Carolina, Mike (Cindy) Landers of Geneseo, Jim Landers of Pavilion, Barb Landers of Alden, Pam Bauer of Elba; and many friends.
Visitation was held at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home 111 Main Street in Geneseo on March 7th. Funeral Services were held on March 8th, at the funeral home with family friend, Judy Sattora, officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York. Memorials may be made to the family c/o P.O. 138 York, New York 14592.
