Henry Peck
#3371, (estimated 1613-after 1651)
Pedigree Link
Biography
- Henry Peck was born estimated 1613 in England.1
- He married Joan (née unknown) Peck estimated 1635.1
- He immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, about 1637.
- Henry, together with Deacon William Peck (1601-1694) and Joseph Peck was an early settle in New Haven, CT. The three were probably related, but this is not documented.2
- On 7 October 1646 Henry and Joseph Peck joined with another man in asking permission to cut wood on the New Haven commons. On 1 Aug 1648 Henry and Joseph were complained of for coming late to the meeting house with their arms but were excused because they had watched the night before and had had no rest. Since Joseph didn't marry until 1650 it seems likely that he was a member of Henry's household and very probably was his brother.2
- He died after 20 October 1651 in New Haven, Connecticut.
- Inventory of his estate was taken on 30 November 1651 It was taken by Samuell Whitehead and Rogger Allen. The net estate came to £56.02.08. In a list of debts owed by the estate, the largest amount was £1.15.0 owing to William Pecke.2
- ***Research Conclusion: Henry Peck has been identified (online) as a passenger on the ship Hector. This is false and cannot be proven. Only 5 passengers were listed in contemporary accounts: Mr Davenport (minister), Mr Eaton (merchant), Mr Hopkins (merchant), Lord Ley, and an unnamed minister.3
Will
Henry Peck left a will dated on 30 October 1651 The will was not signed, but witnessed by the three men. It was presented at the New Havne Town Court 2 May 1654.
